Urban night score

The annual Elizabeth Brown memorial score event. You may run on which ever course you wish but to be eligible for the Elizabeth Brown Memorial Trophy or an age related prize you must enter as follows: Elizabeth Brown Memorial Trophy 60 Minute Score, M/W14- 45 Minute Score, M/W18- 60 Minute Score, M/W Open 60 Minute Score, M/W50+ 60 Minute Score, M/W65+ 60 Minute Score, An age related points system is used to determine the winner of the Elizabeth Brown Memorial Trophy - From the BOF rulebook there are running speed ratios for age classes (male and female separately), in section 7 of Appendix B: Course Planning. The actual score is adjusted proportionately according to the ratio in the table (except for M10/W10 where we have applied sensible ratios ourselves because BOF use different course data for those classes) by dividing by the ratio. If anybody gets maximum points then their score is multiplied by 60 divided by their finishing time. In addition to the Elizabeth Brown Trophy, there are prizes for the first female & male in each category.

Urban

60 minute night score event with a 7.30pm mass start

Short, Medium, Long

You have 60 minutes, and a map with approximately 25 checkpoints to visit. Your goal: to score points by visiting checkpoints. Score as many points as you can, and get back to the start within the time limit. We will be using Map run app look at the SWOC website for final details on downloading this. You can choose which checkpoints to visit, in any order, via any route. Checkpoints are a mixture of lamp posts, fire hydrants and other urban features and have between 10 and 40 points awarded. The control sites will not be otherwise marked on the ground. The event will run according to current British Orienteering rules for the return to orienteering in Wales and will also follow any Welsh Government guidelines in force at the time of the event. Mass start at 7pm. Pre entry only via Fabian 4.

MapRun event (with paper alternative) Under 16s MUST be accompanied by an adult. 16 and 17 year olds can compete alone but ONLY with written consent from parent/guardian. Lights essential (+ back-up). High-visibility clothing compulsory

Event 1 of the SO Spring SOG series, aimed at SO members, newcomers and other local orienteers. Five courses, Blue, Green, Short Green, Orange & Yellow.

1 Hour night score event. Penalty 1 point lost for each 6 seconds or part there-of over the hour. Bonuses at the same rate if you get all the controls under the hour. All competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety. ‘No whistle, no go’ will be in force. You need to have a spare light for night events. In the event of bad weather cagoules may be compulsory. Please come prepared.

Score event based on the streets. One course, with two time limits - Long (60 mins) and Short (40 mins). Using OOM 1:10,000 scale map and MapRun competition software.
