A chance to run both an urban and a woodland "Short green" course in the same evening (combining to form a longer "Green" course). There will also be an easy "Yellow standard" short course in the woodland and parkland of Dixon Scar.

Urban with parkland

Part of BOK's Local event series, scoring towards Club Senior League and Junior League. Caution: crags: Some of the valley sides have steep crags / cliff faces. The courses have been planned to ensure you do not need to cross these, but on courses of Orange and above you must navigate carefully and pay attention to your surroundings. One cliff face in particular is marked on the map as an ‘out of bounds’ boundary to ensure it is avoided and will be marked with tape where necessary. If your route choice looks dangerous, please use your common sense – please err on the side of caution! Blaise Castle Estate is a mix of open, fast running parkland and steep wooded terrain with an irregular path network. The main paths are mapped but small and indistinct paths are not. The estate is a public space and is often very busy at the weekends, particularly on the main paths. Please be respectful of other users and take care of dogs and small children on bikes/scooters. Given the time of year and warm spring, vegetation is likely to be denser generally than appears on the map. All paths could be muddy/slippery particularly if wet, with many exposed tree roots and rocks underfoot, so O-shoes or grippy trail shoes are very much recommended. Ticks are present in Blaise, so fully body cover is required. There is a stream running alongside the metalled path running through the gorge. Under normal conditions this is crossable at many points but may become deep and fast-flowing after heavy rain and should be avoided under such conditions. There are bridges no courses require it to be crossed elsewhere.

Part of BOK's Urban Series, held most Wednesday evenings from late April to early July. Short, Medium and Long courses available. Best 6 results on each course score for series prizes, with separate male and female competitions. The short course is within the school grounds and is suitable for unaccompanied juniors. There are courses suitable for beginners; help and advice available on the day. BOF rules state that Juniors under 16 on the day of the competition are not permitted to compete on courses that require competitors to cross roads.

Parkland with some wooded areas and a good network of paths.

Evening event using MapRun and Open Orienteering Map. Controls will mostly be fire hydrants; will also use other park furniture or home made signs. If you are using MapRun then you will not need to record answers on a control card. Long course (c.6km) and Short course (c.4km).

Part of SO summer Park-O series aimed at club members and newcomers of all ages. Three courses:- Sprint (approx 3km), Orange (approx 2km) & Yellow (approx 1.2km).
