To get a waiting list entry just enter as normal. No payment is required at this stage as there is no guarantee of being offered a place. If the Event Organiser is able to offer you a place they will send you an email inviting you to enter. You will then be asked to come back to this site and make your payment to confirm your entry. The Essex Walker event is part of the Essex and Herts Triple Challenge, together with Blackwater Marathon and Herts Hobble.
Distance: 26 and18 miles
Start times: 26 mile walkers from 8.00am, runners from 9.00 am. 18 mile walkers from 9.30am, runners from 10.30am. depending on route and speed. All to finish by 6.00pm.
Three checkpoints on long route, one at 10mile on short route.
Costs include hot/cold drinks at start, plus snacks/sandwiches at checkpoints, and meal at finish. Certificate to all finishers.
Entry limit 200.
Entries close Sunday 18th October 2026 or earlier if limit is reached.
Entries are not transferable.
No entries on the day.
No refunds after Saturday 17th October 2026 unless the event is cancelled.
No dogs
All entrants to bring a mug.
Minimum age 16, under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The route description and GPX file for both routes will be available at least a week before the event. Substitutions are not permitted. Refunds less an admin charge are possible up to the 17th October 2026.
