Devon Divide

The Devon Divide is a self-supported gravel ultra that loops right through the heart of the county. You start near Budleigh Salterton, circle Dartmoor, skirt the edge of Plymouth, run along the South Devon coast and come back through Exeter.

That’s around 280 miles with close to 28,000 feet of climbing, on a mix of gravel, farm tracks, bridleways and quiet lanes.

This is you against the distance. No support crews, no feed stations, no one carrying your kit. You plan your own stops, you fix your own problems, and you keep yourself moving, making use of the local facilities available to all riders.

Whether it’s your first ultra or you’ve done a few, it’s a chance to find out how far your legs will take you over a long weekend, with some of the best riding the Southwest has to offer.

Event HQ is Pooh Cottage Holiday Park. You can book a pitch for a small tent from Wednesday 8th September, along with parking on site. Space is limited, so camping and parking are first come, first served. Vehicles up to the size of a Transporter-style van are fine, but we can’t take caravans, motorhomes or other large vehicles. If you’d like something different, please contact Pooh Cottage directly or arrange your own accommodation nearby. On Thursday morning we’ll ride out together to the seafront at Budleigh Salterton for the start, and the event closes at 5pm on Sunday, back at HQ.

Your first checkpoint is The Tors at Belstone, a classic Dartmoor inn on the edge of the moor around 58 miles in. A second checkpoint is being added and we’ll share the details soon.

You can get a good feel for the route from the map on our website. The full GPX file will be shared with entrants closer to the event.

Just you, your bike, and Devon.

Riders must be 18 or over on the day of the event to enter on their own. Anyone aged 16 or 17 can take part if they enter alongside a participating adult who takes responsibility for them throughout the event. We can’t accept entries from anyone under 16.
