GENERAL

Starting from West Runton Scout Hut, Cromer Road A149, West Runton, Norfolk, NR27 9NQ; TG 17518 42843 : ///aimlessly.prove.intersect

50 miles in 22.5 hours in the undulating coastal and rural landscape of NE Norfolk. Starts at 07:30 & 09.00; all to finish  by 06:00 Sunday. 5 checkpoints serving hot/cold drinks and variety of yummy food. The Winter Poppyline is a qualifying event for the 2026 LDWA Hunnypot 100.

This is a tough walk in winter conditions with a significant amount of night navigation for most entrants. Norfolk may be flat but it can be cold, wet and muddy in February, so come prepared! Equipment to be carried:  mug (none will be provided), route description, maps - either paper (Explorer 251 & 252; Landranger 133) or digital (with sufficient battery backup), fully charged mobile phone, compass, torch, spare batteries, emergency food, hat and gloves, waterproofs, warm clothing, whistle, survival bag, reflective clothing and a first aid kit.

Car parking is limited so please try to car share where possible. If sufficient entrants car share it will enable us to accommodate more entries. 

ENTRY FEES:

LDWA - £38 - Entry is only for LDWA members until 18th December 2025.

Entry will be open to non-LDWA members after this date, if places are still available.  NON-LDWA  - £45

Entry Limit 120:  When full entries will be placed on a waiting list.

There will be no entries on the day.

Registration at 07:00 for walkers/slow runners starting at 07.30.  Registration at 08.30 for runners starting at 09:00. Please do not turn up earlier than 30 minutes before your planned start time. When choosing a start time please take into account the opening /closing times of checkpoints. Anyone arriving outside those times will have to wait (if early), or will be retired from the event (if late).

Checkpoint open and closing times will be strictly adhered to.

Everyone should have completed the event by 06:00 on Sunday 15th.   Finishers may rest in the hut before heading home, but there is no area available for sleeping. Please ensure you rest sufficiently before starting your journey home. The hut must be vacated by 10:00 Sunday.

SAFETY

Please adhere to all the Government & LDWA guidelines at all times. 

ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT:

Route description and map of the complete route. If you are using an electronic mapping device the maps must be downloaded and you must carry a spare power source. Route descriptions must be downloaded before the event, as they will not be available on the day. The route description, including checkpoint opening & closing times, and GPX files will be published on the Norfolk & Suffolk website in the week before the event.

Mobile phone with sufficient charge/back-up charger to last the event.

Torch/spare batteries, mug, warm clothing including a hat and gloves (likely to be cold at night), waterproof jacket & trousers. Trousers/leggings to be carried if wearing shorts during the day. Water bottle 500ml. Emergency food(snacks), first aid kit, whistle, survival bag, reflective clothing/rucksack. 

FOOD/DRINK

We will provide hot/cold drinks and snacks throughout the event. We cater for meat eaters and vegetarians. There will be limited vegan food, so it is advisable to bring some additional food of your own. We cannot cater for those with special dietary requirements. If you have a special dietary requirement and wish to bring your own food in a sealed and named container we will endeavour to get it to the checkpoint of your choice.

We cannot guarantee the food we provide will be allergen-free, so please ask if in doubt.

RETIREMENTS

You must inform an event marshal that you are withdrawing from the event. Retirees will be taken back to the HQ.

CANCELLATION

A £3.00 admin fee will be charged on cancellations before 30th Jan 2026. After this date no refunds will be given.

If the event is cancelled for any reason (severe weather/Government restrictions) the organisers will endeavour to update all entrants accordingly. The organisers will issue an email and put a notice on the event and main LDWA websites. Entrants are strongly advised to check this before departure.

Cancellation will be at the discretion of the organisers, and the entry fee will be refunded, less a proportional amount for the unavoidable costs.
