The Dales Trail takes you around the perimeter of the Yorkshire Dales National Park on tracks in Malhamdale to the south and Swaledale to the north, Cumbria to the west and Nidderdale to the east.

The Dales Trail event is a three day self supported, long distance bikepacking adventure across 335kms (210 miles) on old Drovers roads, packhorse lanes and moorland singletrack. 

By going around the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park there will be places you didn't and, as the route travels in the opposite direction to the Dales Divide and Dales 300, you will also see old favorites in a new light:

Moorland singletrack through Bowderdale in the Howgill Fells

Miners tracks to Blakethwaite Mill in Gunnerside, Upper Swaledale

Limestone track on the slopes of Ingleborough

Quiet lanes across the Westmorland Dales

Firm singletrack across Melmerby Moor 

Drovers Lanes in Malhamdale

Descent from Tan Hill

Gravel switchback in Micklethwaite Gill

Ribblehead Viaduct and onto Occupation Road in Kingsdale

The cost of entry to the 'Dales Trail' includes:

  • GPX file - Sent to your email address a week before the start date. 
  • Event Hub - 3 Peaks Cycles in Settle will be our hub where all riders sign on from 7.30am with a 9am group start 
  • Breakfast - in the 3 Peaks Cycles Cafe riders can enjoy a meat or veggie sausage bap & tea / coffee from 7.30am
  • Embroidered cloth badge - stitched in Leeds handed to you at the finish line.
  • Tour the RESTRAP factory - two riders have the chance to win places to tour the factory in Leeds and have a personal musette made while they are there.
  • Discount code - all entrants will receive a 20% discount code to use on any of the RESTRAP bikepacking range

Bikepacker 'TB' also includes:

  • Tracker -  GPS tracker provided by Follow My Challenge ensures event officials and friends / family can see a riders progress through the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  NB: A £25 deposit is required to cover for any lost GPS tracker.  Once a tracker is returned a rider will be refunded the £25.
  • Brevet card - Riders will be issued with a brevet card for the control points. 
  • Dot watching - The Yorkshire Divide website will have a dot watching page

The Dales Trail forms part of the Yorkshire Divide Triple Crown.

This is a self supported ride using the gpx to navigate the route. The route is not signposted with Dales Trail arrows.  There are no manned feed stations as the route passes through Dales villages. There is no rescue vehicle. Riders are expected to follow the well established informal codes of bikepacking:
