University of Lancashire and North Preston is the first event of 2026 in the North West Urban League. It is a new area covering University of Lancashire city campus and surrounding residential and commercial areas, with a map drawn for the event by Graham Capper.

All courses are open to anyone, but to qualify for the NWUL, you must run in your age category or higher.

Courses 1 and 2 have 30+ controls. Older SI-cards do not have the capacity for this, and hence newer, higher capacity cards will be available to hire on the day. Enter early, by 4 January, to be sure of getting your choice of course. Entries will continue to be open for all courses, on-line, so long as we have maps available.
Entries close at 21:00 on 10 January 2026.
EOD will be available too, but there may well be a reduced choice of course and is subject to map availability.
SI-cards can be hired for £1 on the day
SROC members volunteering to help out can get a 50% discount by contacting the organiser for the code before entering.
A quick reminder for newcomers: If you’re not currently a member of British Orienteering, you won’t be covered by the organisation’s public liability insurance for this event. You’re very welcome to take part, but please be aware that you do so at your own risk.

Assembly and download will be at the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre, University of Lancashire. The post code for the University is PR1 2HE but there is no specific postcode for the sports centre, so location is:

Travel
There is no specific event car parking. There are car parks in the city centre or north of the A59 and convenient for the university campus. On street parking should also be possible nearby.
Preston Railway Station is less than 15 minutes’ walk from Assembly.
Preston Bus Station is 15 minutes’ walk from Assembly.
