Spunch Mini Mountain Marathon (MMM) supported by KONG
Thanks to the kind support of KONG Running who have generously provided prize vouchers for the (more) competitive 4 hour course.
This is the second of three Spunch MMMs supported by KONG Running in 2025. Event #3 will be on Sunday 5 Oct (North Lakes - day after the Hodgson Relays). Precise venue to be confirmed.
Lots of controls / checkpoints - enabled by Satellite Punch (Spunch) technology powered by the MapRun app on your SmartPhone/Garmin/AppleWatch. Many checkpoints = more route-choice, more successes & even more fun! No-flag control-sites - how good is your nav!? Course maps released online at 6pm-ish on the evening before the event allowing time to pre-plan for those who wish to. Less competitive and even lower-cost 2 hour course option also available for locals, newcomers, and those who prefer a shorter adventure. Accompanied under 18s go FREE on all courses - yes we are doing all we can to encourage juniors and young families to get into the great outdoors with a map - always safely accompanied by their parents / guardians. Tiered entry fee structure - very low-cost entry fees for those who enter early! A bit more the later you leave it. Online very-late entries available including on-the-day. New pairs/teams categories allowing pairs or friends and family groups of 3 or more to participate together.
This edition is from the Ragleth Inn, Little Stretton, Church Stretton, Shropshire SY6 6RB.
4-hour MMM score course (variable value controls) or standard Spunch 2hr score course (all controls have the same value) options. Parking, Bag Drop, Loos, Start, Finish, Food & Drink all at or near the Ragleth. Daylight event for runners & walkers in the beautiful and spectacular Shropshire Hills. Family friendly & dog friendly too.
We are excited to bring you to the Little Stretton & the Long Mynd. Accessed from the A49, 30 mins south of Shrewsbury, 30 mins north of Ludlow. About 30 mins from M54 J7 (Telford if travelling from Birmingham and the east / south east). 90 mins from M6 J16 (Crewe if travelling from the north). 75 mins from M5 J6 (Worcester if travelling from the south).
Run, jog or walk - with course options suitable for all - fell runners, adventure racers, orienteers, trail runners, park runners, walkers, newcomers, and families alike. 4k to 44k, the choice is yours! Great for families and friends to do together. Suitable for all ages and abilities - lots of help available for newcomers. Dogs can be brought, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times - please only bring your dog if you are happy to comply.
Start at your convenience anytime between 1030am to 12pm (4 hour course), 1130am to 130pm (2 hour course), 11am to 1pm (1 hour course). Registration open from 1015am.
Navigating with an enlarged and enhanced A3 1:12,500 OS Explorer map, visit as many checkpoints as you can in the time available to maximise your score, S-punching using the MapRun app on your smartphone, Garmin or Apple Watch.
You should be prepared for some significant ascents and descents in this part of the world! You will be onto the hills within 500m of leaving the pub perhaps heading west and tackling the slopes of Callow or Nills, maybe heading north towards Ashlet & Yearlet? Further north you will find the many spurs & valleys leading into Carding Mill Valley. Do you contour, or do you go down & up? With the course being set by Mark Hartell, you should expect to be both physically & mentally challenged and visit parts of the Long Mynd that other events don't reach.
Food and drink will be available post run/walk back at the Ragleth including a hearty meat or vegan Chilli with rice for £8. Please indicate if you are likely to have the chilli when you enter.
With around 70 SpunchPoints to go for - how many will you bag?
Hope you will come along and give it a go!
