This event listing is for Day 2 of the 3-day SpunchFEST25. The UK MapSport (Spunch) Championship Day in Lyme Park. A 3-day weekend of SpunchFun in the North West with events in Bramhall, Lyme Park & Macclesfield and an event Campsite Hub See also the separate listings for Days 1 & 3 on 15 & 17 August Day 2: Start window: 15:00 to 18:00. Can be done solo, in a pair, or as a team of 3 or more. Each participant needs to put in an individual entry EXCEPT accompanied youngsters under 18 who go for FREE (when accompanied by a paying adult who must be 21+). Juniors aged 16 and above can run alone with parental permission - in this case they need their own individual entry at the standard adult rate. A waterproof map of the course is provided to ALL participants. Your entry fee for this day INCLUDES entry to Lyme Park & Garden and parking. This is normally £8 per adult and £4 per child. Please note that entry to the House is NOT included. Please enter early for the best rates and to help with planning for maps, parking, event officials and catering. A MapSport Summer Festival full of fun for families & friends of all ages & abilities.
We are teaming up with our friends from the National Trust at Lyme Park, MapRun, Disley Runners, Lyme Runners, PeakRaid, Questars, Bollington Brewing & Happy Valley Camping to bring you a 3-day weekend summer festival of MapSport.
The headliner (on our Pyramid Stage😉) is the inaugural UK MapSport Championships** on Saturday 16 August to be held in the grandeur of Lyme Park with kind support from the National Trust - we can't think of a better setting for such an event! **We were going to call it the World Champs, but we are saving that for 2026!
On the Friday evening there will be a standard 60/90/120 Spunch from the event campsite at Happy Valley Camping, and then on the Sunday there will be a Big Macc 1-2-3 Spunch from the Bollington Brewery Tap Room in Macclesfield.
All 3 events will as usual be OPEN TO ALL - whether you are a runner or walker, whether you are competitive or not, whether you want to go solo, in a pair, or a family/friends group, whether you are an experienced navigator or just starting out - there is something for everyone at these events. Newcomers and locals are always very welcome to come along and join the fast-growing community of Spunchers!
Here is the weekend programme:
- Friday evening 15 August - Spunch 60/90/120 from Happy Valley Camping, Bramhall. Start window 16:30-19:30
- Saturday morning - ParkRun tourism options at nearby Bramhall Park, Lyme Park, Woodbank Park & Brabyns Park
- Saturday afternoon / evening 16 August - UK MapSport Championships in Lyme Park. 1hr & 2hr Championship Sport Courses plus 3hr Fun Course. Start window 15:00-18:00
- Sunday 17 August - Big Macc Spunch 1-2-3 from Bollington Brewery Tap Room, Macclesfield. Start window 11:00-14:00
All 3 Spunch events will be very conveniently located being within 15-20 mins drive from the event campsite.
Enter all 3 events and make a weekend of it, or enter just one or two. Make the event campsite at Happy Valley Camping your base for the weekend or travel each day.

The entry fee for the Day 2 Lyme Park event INCLUDES entry to Lyme Park & Garden and parking. This is normally £8 per adult and £4 per child. Please note that entry to the House is NOT included.

ABOUT THE CAMPING....
We are grateful to Ed & Kate at Happy Valley Camping for welcoming us to their site as our hub for the weekend and for waiving the fee for kids meaning it is just £10 per adult per night. It is a lovely, peaceful, flat, well-mown, well- drained and (often) sunny camping field, very convenient for the weekend's events and other local amenities (supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, leisure centre all within 15mins walk). The Friday evening Spunch will start and finish in the camping field, and there will be a street food trader on site on the Friday evening.
The site takes tents, campervans and micro caravans. There are male / female toilets, water points and a dishwash station. There is no electrical hook-up, hot water or showers. (Showers can be had at the very-nearby leisure centre)

Event 2 of 3 - Saturday afternoon / evening 16 August UK Championship Spunch in Lyme Park including 60/120 minute UK Championship Sport Courses & a 3 hour BIG FUN Course option (Choose on the day).
What's not to love about a summer late afternoon / early evening Spunch in the 1400 acres (6 sq k) of Lyme Park? It has a rich and varied network of beautiful trails, gorgeous woodland areas, some great running/walking over open moorland and hills (with some more challenging sections!) and awesome views over Cheshire, the Manchester Metropolis* and beyond. *Manchester weather permitting!
After your run / walk relax & enjoy the ambience in the (hopefully) sunny start / finish area which will be located adjacent to the National Trust food & drink stall which will be serving up hand-crafted pizzas from their pizza oven and a selection of beer, wine and soft drinks. Other snack food and teas, coffees & cakes etc will also be available. Bring your chair and enjoy some post-Spunch chat in this super setting.
The 1, 2 & 3 hour course options are ALL suitable for ALL runners & walkers regardless of age, experience or ability. Very family friendly & dog friendly too. Start whenever you wish during the start window period from 15:00 to 18:00. On the day Registration will open from 14:30.
Bag Drop, Loos, Start, Finish, Food & Drink will all be very conveniently located near the main car parking area in the heart of the Park.
Run, jog or walk - suitable for road runners, trail runners, park runners, fell runners, adventure racers, orienteers, walkers, newcomers, and families alike. 2k to 25k, the choice is yours! Newcomers and locals always very welcome. Great for families and friends to do together. Go solo, pair or team. Suitable for all ages and abilities - lots of help available for newcomers. Split start times for parents, treats for the kids and with some push-chair friendly options too. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
Navigating with a specially prepared map, visit as many checkpoints as you can in the time available, S-punching using the MapRun app on your smartphone, Garmin or Apple Watch.
If you have visited Lyme before, you will know just how special it is - If not, then this is a unique opportunity to explore every part of the estate. With over 80 Spunchpoints to go for, you could visit all 3 follies, Lantern & Knights Low Woods, Cage Hill & Bowstones and some of the more challenging moorland areas of Park Moor & Cluse Hay.
Whichever route you choose, you are guaranteed to have a super MapSport adventure.
The event venue is in the heart of Lyme Park, Disley SK12 2NR, accessed from the main gate on the A6 between High Lane & Disley. It is a short 15 minute drive from the SpunchFEST25 camp site at Happy Valley Camping. Car sharing is encouraged.
About 25 mins from M60 J1-3 & J27 and M56 J5-6 convenient for anywhere with easy access to the M60 Manchester Outer Ring and the M56. Especially handy for Bramhall, Hazel Grove, Poynton, Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Cheadle, Stockport, Romiley, Marple, Disley & New Mills etc.
Catch the Spunch Train. Disley Train Station is a 3k walk from the event venue. It is well served by trains from Manchester, Stockport, Buxton and all stations in between.
Bikes can be locked outside at the venue at your own risk.

ABOUT THE COURSE OPTIONS & THE UK MAPSPORT CHAMPIONSHIPS
There are 3 course options - you can choose on the day itself.
- SHORT SPORT COURSE 60 MINS - Expected winning distance 10-15k
- LONG SPORT COURSE 120 MINS - Expected winning distance 20-25k
- BIG FUN COURSE 180 MINS - No prizes, just for fun and those who want to max out!
The longer-duration 120 & 180 minute courses will, as always, allow you to make the most of the area and we also recommend the longer duration courses to newcomers and walkers as they provide the most opportunity to get into the swing of things!
All 3 courses are suitable for ALL and you may choose whichever you wish on the day, but for the more competitive types amongst us there will be prizes awarded (subject to sponsorship) for the UK MapSport Championship winners on the 60 minute (Short) and 120 minute (Long) courses.
