This event listing is for Day 1 of the 3-day SpunchFEST25 A 3-day weekend of SpunchFun in the North West with events in Bramhall, Lyme Park & Macclesfield and an event Campsite Hub See also the separate listings for Days 2 & 3 on 16/17 August Day 1: Start window: 16:30 to 19:30. Can be done solo, in a pair, or as a team of 3 or more. Each participant needs to put in an individual entry EXCEPT accompanied youngsters under 18 who go for FREE (when accompanied by a paying adult who must be 21+). Juniors aged 16 and above can run alone with parental permission - in this case they need their own individual entry at the standard adult rate. A waterproof map of the course is provided to ALL participants. Please enter early for the best rates and to help with planning for maps, parking, event officials and catering. A MapSport Summer Festival full of fun for families & friends of all ages & abilities.
We are teaming up with our friends from the National Trust at Lyme Park, MapRun, Disley Runners, Lyme Runners, PeakRaid, Questars, Bollington Brewing & Happy Valley Camping to bring you a 3-day weekend summer festival of MapSport.
The headliner (on our Pyramid Stage😉) is the inaugural UK MapSport Championships** on Saturday 16 August to be held in the grandeur of Lyme Park with kind support from the National Trust - we can't think of a better setting for such an event! **We were going to call it the World Champs, but we are saving that for 2026!
On the Friday evening there will be a standard 60/90/120 Spunch from the event campsite at Happy Valley Camping, and then on the Sunday there will be a Big Macc 1-2-3 Spunch from the Bollington Brewery Tap Room in Macclesfield.
All 3 events will as usual be OPEN TO ALL - whether you are a runner or walker, whether you are competitive or not, whether you want to go solo, in a pair, or a family/friends group, whether you are an experienced navigator or just starting out - there is something for everyone at these events. Newcomers and locals are always very welcome to come along and join the fast-growing community of Spunchers!
Here is the weekend programme:
- Friday evening 15 August - Spunch 60/90/120 from Happy Valley Camping, Bramhall. Start window 16:30-19:30
- Saturday morning - ParkRun tourism options at nearby Bramhall Park, Lyme Park, Woodbank Park & Brabyns Park
- Saturday afternoon / evening 16 August - UK MapSport Championships in Lyme Park. 1hr & 2hr Championship Sport Courses plus 3hr Fun Course. Start window 15:00-18:00
- Sunday 17 August - Big Macc Spunch 1-2-3 from Bollington Brewery Tap Room, Macclesfield. Start window 11:00-14:00
All 3 Spunch events will be very conveniently located being within 15-20 mins drive from the event campsite.

ABOUT THE CAMPING....
We are grateful to Ed & Kate at Happy Valley Camping for welcoming us to their site as our hub for the weekend and for waiving the fee for kids meaning it is just £10 per adult per night. It is a lovely, peaceful, flat, well-mown, well- drained and (often) sunny camping field, very convenient for the weekend's events and other local amenities (supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, leisure centre all within 15mins walk). The Friday evening Spunch will start and finish in the camping field, and there will be a street food trader on site on the Friday evening.
The site takes tents, campervans and micro caravans. There are male / female toilets, water points and a dishwash station. There is no electrical hook-up, hot water or showers. (Showers can be had at the very-nearby leisure centre)

Event 1 of 3 - Friday evening 15 August Spunch 60/90/120 from Happy Valley Camping
Friday early evening (daylight) Town & Trail Spunch starting and finishing in the SpunchFEST25 campsite at Happy Valley Camping, Chester Road, Hazel Grove, Stockport SK7 6EN. 60, 90 and 120 min score course options (choose on the evening itself) suitable for runners & walkers. Very family friendly & dog friendly too. Bag Drop, Loos, Start, Finish, Food & Drink all in the camping / parking field.
A doorstep adventure around Bramhall's green spaces direct from your tent / campervan / car. A mixed-terrain Spunch that might take you along Lady Brook into the Happy Valley Nature Reserve, Bramhall Park, Carr Wood Park, New House Farm Woods, the Fred Perry Way and with some quick-fire urban snicketry in between!
Not a hilly one this, and with good underfoot conditions* so it is both family and dog friendly as well as being fast going for the runners amongst you. Even locals will likely discover new paths and places!
With an extended 16:30 to 19:30pm start window, treats for the kids, a post-Spunch gathering around the campsite firepit(s) and route options suitable for kids of all ages, this will be a good one to get the whole family out n about!
The venue is just 15 mins from M60 J1-3 & J27 and M56 J5-6 convenient for anywhere with easy access to the M60 Manchester Outer Ring and the M56. Especially handy for Bramhall, Hazel Grove, Poynton, Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Cheadle, Stockport, Romiley, Marple, Disley & New Mills etc.
Run, jog or walk - suitable for road runners, trail runners, park runners, fell runners, adventure racers, orienteers, walkers, newcomers, and families alike. 2k to 22k, the choice is yours! Newcomers and locals always very welcome. Great for families and friends to do together. Go solo, pair or team. Suitable for all ages and abilities - lots of help available for newcomers. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
Start at your convenience anytime between 16:30 & 19:30. (Last start for 90min course 19:15, last start for 120min course 18:45). Registration open from 16:30.
Navigating with a specially prepared map, visit as many checkpoints as you can in the time available, S-punching using the MapRun app on your smartphone, Garmin or Apple Watch.
There will be a street food trader operating in the camping / car parking field throughout the evening selling food & drink for after your run / walk. Bring a chair and bring your own beer / wine and enjoy your food and drink whilst chatting around the firepit(s).
With over 80 Spunchpoints to go for - how many will you bag?
Parking is available in the camping field. It is flat, grassy and well-drained. Car parking is FREE for those who are camping at the site. There will be a £2 cash charge per vehicle on the night for those vehicles just coming to park.
Catch the Spunch Train. Happy Valley Camping site is just 1.5k flat walk from Hazel Grove Train Station which is well served by trains from Manchester, Stockport, Buxton, Sheffield and all stations in between.
Bikes can be locked in the camping field at your own risk.
