The New Junior Hardrock Duathlon Event for 2025 is a Run and Mountain Bike Duathlon.
New route for 2025 starting in Town Wood Carpark, Dalbeattie. The run follows walkers trails and forest roads, with the mountain bike route following part of the 7stanes blue and red graded trails.
Courses
There are two course routes: Route 1 for 8-11years competing over a 0.7km/1.2mile run and a 3.2km/2mile mountain bike section. Route 2 for 12-15years competing over a 2.6km/1.6mile run and an 8.8km/5.5mile bike section.
Prizes
Each finisher will receive a Junior Hardrock Duathlon finishers prize
1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers will receive Gold, Silver, Bronze medals and prize bag
Forest Update
Due to severe storm damage, major work is taking place this year to clear the routes and prevent further devastation if future storms hit the region. This should not affect these courses, but this is out of our control and is subject to the forestry clearance programme. We will keep our Facebook page updated with any changes in the weeks leading up to the event.
The Event
Competitors can enter as an individual and do both the run and the mountain bike sections or in a team of one runner and one biker. A team entry must have both competitors in the same age group; either 8-11yrs or 12-15yrs.

Please note: This may vary slightly on the day depending on the number of participants in each category.
The First race will start at 11am, with the next race starting as soon as the previous race is finished
Junior Junior registration opens at 9am and closes at 10.30am.
Junior Senior registration opens at 9am and closes at 12.30pm
Information on racking the bikes in transition will be given on the day.
Entry fee is: £7.50 Individual, £15.00 per Team.
You must be over 18 to register on the system and make an entry on behalf of a participant.
A group of enthusiastic volunteers organises this event, the Hardrock Challenge Team, part of Dalbeattie Community Initiative.
Competitors must provide their own trail worthy bikes and must be wearing a helmet when competing.
No Helmet, No Start.
Event Facilities
The Event Village area will include: car parking in nearby field at a charge of £2 which will go to a charitable youth group, catering facilities, WC's, first aid tent, and then there is our Mac the voice, our professional MC keeping everyone at the event informed and entertained.
On Saturday 20th September the adult race takes place and there will be a licensed bar at the event village. Overnight camping is an option at the Richorn Trailhead Carpark for a fee payable to Forestry Land Scotland.
There will be signage and marshalling to support parking, car parking will be at JAS P Wilsons field with a charge of £2.00/car.
