The Black Mountains Challenge is a self-supported, ultra cycling, bike packing event that promises to test your endurance, mental fortitude and love for adventure. However, be forewarned, this route is challenging.

THE ROUTE

Starting and finishing in Llanellen, Abergavenny, this epic 195-mile route will lead you through the remote and challenging landscapes of the Black Mountains and beyond. Brace yourself for varying terrains including smooth roads, forestry roads, double track, single track and everything between.

SELF-SUPPORTED

This is a self-supported event, emphasising the need for riders to be responsible for their own health and safety. Participants must assess their fitness levels and experience to ensure they are prepared to tackle the demanding route. Riders are required to carry all their own kit and supplies, including mandatory items due to the remoteness of certain areas along the route. Participants must have their own Third-party insurance covering sportive and addax events is essential. 

SAFETY AND TRACKING

Safety is paramount. For enhanced safety and tracking, GPS trackers and event mapping will be provided. These tools not only enable organisers to monitor your progress but also allow friends and family to follow your journey and provide support along the way.
