Our second series of canicross races at Whinlatter Forest, Dodd Wood and Grizedale Forest. Each event following the same format and starting at 9am with individual starts for each athlete so that all dogs have the space they need to start safely. The courses are a mix of forest roads and trails. On this route some sections are narrower and steeper, hence only one dog per runner and the dogs must be run on a suitable harness. Runners are welcome to compete without dogs.
There are two course options. The longer option is a 5 mile loop with 1200ft of ascent, reaching the summit of Seat How and then following forest roads and trails back to the visitors centre. There is a shorter option, which avoids Seat How, and joins up with the second half of the longer course. This is recommended for beginners or those seeking an easier route. It is 3 miles with 800ft.
The event is chip timed and will be marked. GPX files are available to download too.
