Event Disclaimer / Terms and ConditionsT's & C's

I accept the following terms for my own entry. I also accept the terms on behalf of any other participants I am entering in this event, all of whom have been provided with a copy of these terms and accept them.

I have read the rules that apply to this event and I agree to abide by the rules of the event and to observe the Countryside Code at all times. I have sufficient knowledge, experience, equipment and navigational skills to take part in a long distance walk in all conditions. I confirm that I am in good health and have no medical condition that may cause undue concern or inconvenience to others. I confirm that I participate at my own risk and that no liability is accepted by the organisers for injury, damage or loss sustained by me before, during or after the event.

Covid-19 rules (as at 29th November 2021) – these may be relaxed prior to the event taking place:

These rules may be revised according to the LDWA NEC Challenge events guidelines, and are subject to any restrictions imposed by the relevant authorities, including HM Government.

  1. Entrants must not attend Challenge Events if they or a close contact has recently been diagnosed with Covid-19, or shows any Covid-19 symptoms, are awaiting test* results or are self-isolating under current Government guidance; Event volunteers will be subject to these same conditions. *awaiting a test result does not apply to anyone taking part in an ongoing recognised testing programme.
  2. Entrants should carry hand sanitizer and a mask
  3. Entrants should abide by social distancing rules throughout the walk
  4. Supporters are not allowed at Checkpoints or at the venue
  5. When encountering walkers on narrow enclosed footpaths, entrants should stand aside if space permits or turn and cover their face
  6. Although rules have been relaxed in part, entrants should still aim to comply with the following:
    • Wear a mask when arriving at the venue or indoor checkpoint (unless an exemption applies)
    • Apply hand sanitizer
    • Do not touch any equipment at the venue or checkpoint. If entrants need drinks or their water containers refilling, they should hold their receptacle and marshals will fill that receptacle for them.

General rules:

  1. Entrants agree to be bound by the rules; in all circumstances event officials’ decisions are final.
  2. Non-LDWA members are permitted to enter the event (for a small additional fee), but there are NO on the day entries.
  3. Entrants below the age of 18 (on the day of the Event) are permitted subject to a) confirmation from the Event Secretary (with any additional necessary conditions) and b) parental consent, if appropriate.
  4. Time limits and checkpoint closing times will be enforced.
  5. Entrants must follow the prescribed route (without mechanical assistance) and ensure their arrival at checkpoints is noted by marshals.
  6. Dogs are not permitted on this event.
  7. Entrants who are inadequately equipped according to the prevailing conditions may be disqualified. Entrants are required to carry waterproofs, spare food, drink, drinking receptacle, and personal first aid items.
  8. All entrants must carry the route description. Maps in electronic format will be allowed provided durability and adequate power supply can be demonstrated if requested by a marshal.
  9. Entrants wishing to retire between checkpoints and make their own way back (or home), should notify the event organisers immediately by calling the emergency phone number on the route description.
  10. Entrants wishing to switch to another distance should notify marshals at a checkpoint.
  11. Entrants who envisage that they will be arriving at a checkpoint after the stated closing time, should notify the event organisers as soon as possible by calling the emergency phone number on the route description.
  12. Only if the event is cancelled due to future covid restrictions (or extreme weather related issues) will any Entry Fee be refunded; any refund will be subject to a small administration / booking fee (to cover unavoidable costs). Entrants will have the option of choosing Booking Protect (for an additional fee of 8.5% of the Entry Fee) as a way of ensuring that their full Entry Fee (but not the additional fee) can be returned to them in certain circumstances -  but PLEASE NOTE that Booking Protect does NOT provide repayment if the EVENT is CANCELLED. (NB If you choose Booking Protect, we understand that this should automatically apply to all other participants that you enter for this event.)
