Event Disclaimer / Terms and ConditionsT's & C's

I accept the following terms for my own entry. I also accept the terms on behalf of any other participants I am entering in this event, all of whom have been provided with a copy of these terms and accept them.

I have read the rules that apply to this event and I agree to abide by the rules of the event and to observe the Countryside Code at all times. I have sufficient knowledge, experience, equipment and navigational skills to take part in a long distance walk in all conditions. I confirm that I am in good health and have no medical condition that may cause undue concern or inconvenience to others. I confirm that I participate at my own risk and that no liability is accepted by the organisers for injury, damage or loss sustained by me before, during or after the event.

Covid-19 rules (as at 1st July 2021) – these may be relaxed prior to the event taking place:

These rules may be revised according to the NEC Challenge events guidelines, and are subject to any restrictions imposed by the relevant authorities, including HM Government.

  1. Entrants displaying symptoms of Covid-19 on the day (or have recently tested positive), should NOT join the event
  2. Entrants should carry hand sanitizer and a mask (even if that individual is exempt from wearing a mask)
  3. Entrants should abide by social distancing rules throughout the walk
  4. Entrants should carry their own food during the event as checkpoints will only provide drinks.
  5. Supporters are not allowed at Checkpoints or at the venue (St Margaret’s Village Hall)
  6. When encountering walkers on narrow enclosed footpaths, entrants should stand aside if space permits or turn and cover their face and consider the use of a face mask (even if exempt from wearing said mask).
  7. Entrants should comply with the following instructions at checkpoints:
    • Wear their mask when arriving at the checkpoint (unless an exemption applies)
    • Apply hand sanitizer
    • They should not touch any equipment at the checkpoint. If entrants need drinks or their water containers refilling, they should hold their receptacle and marshals will fill that receptacle for them.
  8. Entrants should be aware that marshals can only drive a maximum of 5 retirees at a time to the finish venue in their vehicle (unless all retirees form a bubble from no more than 1 household).

General rules:

  1. Entrants agree to be bound by the rules; in all circumstances event officials’ decisions are final.
  2. Only LDWA members are allowed to enter the event. No on the day entries.
  3. Entrants below the age of 18 (on the day of the Event) are permitted subject to a) confirmation from the Event Secretary (with any additional necessary conditions) and b) parental consent, if appropriate.
  4. Time limits and checkpoint closing times will be enforced.
  5. Entrants must follow the prescribed route (without mechanical assistance) and ensure their arrival at checkpoints is noted by marshals.
  6. Dogs will be allowed on this event, subject to confirmation that the dog is covered by Third Party Pet Owners’ Liability Insurance, and that it will be kept under close control at all times, and on a short lead near livestock or sensitive wildlife. Owners should clean up after their dog.
  7. Entrants who are inadequately equipped according to the prevailing conditions will be disqualified. Entrants are required to carry waterproofs, spare food, drink, drinking receptacle, and personal first aid items.
  8. All entrants must carry the route description. Maps in electronic format will be allowed provided durability and adequate power supply can be demonstrated if requested by a marshal.
  9. Entrants wishing to retire between checkpoints and make their own way back, should notify the event organisers immediately by calling the emergency phone number on the route description.
  10. Entrants wishing to switch to another distance should notify marshals at a checkpoint.
  11. Entrants who envisage that they will be arriving at a checkpoint after its stated closing time, should notify the event organisers as soon as possible by calling the emergency phone number on the route description.
  12. Only if the event is cancelled due to future covid restrictions will any Entry Fee be refunded – with any refund being subject to an administration / booking fee.
