South Pennine 24 Anytime Challenge

Event Website
Event Disclaimer / Terms and ConditionsT's & C's

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF ENTERING:

I agree to abide by the rules of this event namely:

1) The South Pennine 24 Anytime Challenge Event is open to LDWA members only aged 18 or over. (Sorry, due to insurance requirements entries from non members will not be accepted)

2) Please check & comply with all local & national COVID guidance. Do NOT travel if you have any COVID symptoms or are awaiting the results of a COVID test.

3) By entering I confirm that I am in good health, and have no medical condition that may cause concern or inconvenience to others. I confirm that I participate at my own risk and that no liability is accepted by the organisers for any injury, damage or loss sustained to me during or whilst travelling to and from the event.

4) Non Refundable Entry fee: £6.70. Five pounds per entry donated to Oldham Mountain Rescue Team .

5) The route description will enable you to plot your route on the OL1 map. A walked gpx file for use with gps will be sent to all entrants: this is a navigational aid & NOT a replacement for the supplied route description. Entrants can complete the Challenge anytime from Saturday 17th April 2021 until Saturday 14th August 2021.

6) The SP24 Anytime Challenge Event is entirely self supported & self navigated: it is not waymarked or taped & sufficient navigational skills are required: a significant part of the route towards the Pennine Way near Laddow Rocks is across remote moorland.

7) The upland weather in the South Pennines can change suddenly with minimal visibility on the tops: entrants should be suitably attired & should not attempt the challenge during adverse weather: remember you have almost four months to complete! Carry sufficient water & food to last for the day. Additionally a recommended kit list includes suitable footwear, waterproofs (top and trousers), spare fleece, map (or GPS with spare batteries), compass, whistle, torch and emergency bivvy bag. Carry a fully charged mobile. If sunny weather is forecast pack sun cream & a head/neck covering as there is little shade on the route.

8) It is requested entrants do not bring dogs to avoid disturbance to critically endangered moorland ground nesting birds during the breeding season: if you do please keep any dogs on a fixed lead and under control across moorland .

9) Disclaimer: You agree that you participate in the event at your own risk. You understand that you are responsible for ensuring that you have undertaken the necessary preparation and training to participate in the event, that you are sufficiently fit and healthy to participate and that you will comply with all relevant UK Government and local (English Tiers, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland) COVID laws and guidelines. You understand that if you have a medical condition that would cause you to doubt whether you can participate in the event, then you will not do so unless you have sought medical advice to confirm your fitness to participate. You will abide by the Countryside Code and understand that the Long Distance Walkers Association will not be held responsible or liable for any loss, damage, action, cost, expense, claim, injury, illness and in worst case scenario, death suffered as a result of your participation. On entering the event, you assume full and complete responsibility for any injury, accident, costs, expenses, damages, losses and any other liabilities which may occur while you are travelling to and from the event and during the event .
