Race Rules

  1. Runners have 9 hours to complete the Spire Ultra. You must pass through ALL the checkpoints (6 in total) within the stated time limit. (Miss a CP = DNF). To achieve this, you must have left checkpoint 4 at Hundall by 14.30.
  2. Any runner who is, in the opinion of the race directors or marshals, unfit to continue will be withdrawn from the race. THEIR DECISION IS FINAL.
  3. You must log in with the marshals at each checkpoint.
  4. You must notify a marshal at the first instance if you decide to retire from the event. Once you retire from the event, your race number must be surrendered and you will not be allowed to continue.
  5. You must carry ALL items marked as mandatory from the equipment list (below) for the duration of the event.
  6. Do not drop any litter.
  7. Respect other users of the countryside, fellow competitors and marshals.
  8. No climbing over fences; please use the stiles/gates.
  9. No dogs allowed (the route makes extensive use of farmland).
  10. Runners must be aged 18 or over on race day

Mandatory Kit Requirements

  • Minimum of 500ml water/sports drink
  • Emergency food supply
  • Whistle
  • Waterproof jacket with taped seams
  • Decent trainers appropriate for a variety of trail conditions
  • Map and/or GPX and/or route description
  • Mobile phone – fully charged

Bearing in mind the weather forecast on the day, we would additionally recommend:

Recommended kit:

  • GPS
  • buff or similar
  • hat and gloves
  • extra warm layer
  • waterproof trousers

Refunds / Transfers

  • Refunds less £10 admin fee will be possible up until 20th March 2027. 
  • If the organisers are forced to cancel the event for any reason, a new date will be established and all entries will be carried forward. If no alternative date is available, all entries will be carried forward to the next year.
  • Additionally we recommend you take out 'Booking Protection' as we do not offer refunds or deferrals beyond 20th March 2027.
  • You are able to transfer (sell) your entry to another runner up until 24th April 2027. However it is your responsibility to make sure that the entry details are updated to that of the new runner.
