West Highland Way Race

I accept the following terms for my own entry. I also accept the terms on behalf of any other participants I am entering in the event, all of whom have been provided with a copy of these terms and accept them.  Where I am entering other participants, the participants in question have given their consent for such purposes.

I understand that participation in the event is personal to me, and that I am strictly prohibited from swapping, selling or transferring or offering to sell, swap or transfer my place in the event or allowing any other person to take my place. Any breach of this condition shall render my entry void, and could lead to my exclusion from participation in future events.

By entering (and if accepted, participating) in this race I confirm that I 

• am physically prepared for the event, in good health, and not suffering from any injury or physical defect likely to be aggravated by participation in the event.

• am aware that the event takes place in a remote and rural setting which is often difficult to access and control, carrying additional risk to participants, and will accept and take the risks and consequences derived from participation.

• Participate voluntarily and under my own responsibility during the race.

• Agree to abide by all race rules and conditions and comply with medical advice given by race medics.

• Will inform the organisers prior to the event of any previous medical history

including heart problems, asthma, epilepsy, irregular heartbeat, diabetes, collapsing during exercise, high blood pressure or kidney problems.

• Understand that ultra-distance running is an activity with danger of personal injury or death and will accept full responsibility for my own safety.

• Make a personal choice to be involved in any event and confirm that the activity is suitable for my level of experience, fitness, equipment and interests.

• Am aware that the Organisation, its members and Committee Members do not take on a role of supervision or instruction, nor, except in cases of proven negligence by the Organisation or its Committee, will be held responsible or liable for the safety or well-being of participants who are voluntarily engaging in a hazardous activity.

I confirm that the information I have provided to support my application is accurate in all respects. I understand and agree that I participate in this event at my own risk and that I must rely on my own ability in dealing with all hazards.

I agree to abide at all times by the rules of the race (see PROVISIONAL RACE RULES ), to adhere to all instructions given by event officials and to familiarise myself with the race instructions, guidance and medical advice; 

I understand that my participation in the event requires a support crew, and understand and agree that my support crew is also required to abide by the race instructions. I understand that I may be withdrawn from the race at any time if the race officials consider this appropriate, and that all decisions of the race officials are final.

Personal data:
By entering the race, I understand and accept that the race organisers require to process my personal data as part of the organisation of the event, and to assist with the race safety plan. In particular, I am aware that my medical data will be shared with the race organising team to ensure that the team is properly briefed in the case of any medical issues, as will my contact details and those of my support crew.  Those details may be passed to other medical staff if this is considered necessary.  My medical information will be held until such time after the race when it is considered there is no longer a risk of injury and / or illness as a result of my participation in the race, or until the medical team is satisfied that the data is no longer required, and will then be destroyed.

I understand and accept that photographs or other images of me taken during the race may be used as part of any race publicity and I consent to the publication of photographs or other images for me for these purposes.
