Conditions of Entry

  1. The challenge is to complete the 26.2-mile event within 12 hours.
  2. To conform to guidelines published the LDWA, UKA and HSE, a minimum age for those walking is 14-years, whilst for runners the minimum age is 18-years. Under 15-year old entrants must be accompanied by a parent or a responsible adult throughout the event.
  3. Entrants who wish to retire MUST attempt to do so at checkpoints.
  4. Entrants arriving at a checkpoint after its closing time, or deemed to be unlikely to reach the next checkpoint before its closing time will be advised to retire.
  5. Lifts will be arranged back to the Alstonefield Village Hall for retirees.
  6. A list of checkpoint closing times will be supplied in the final details.
  7. Walkers / runners should have attained a suitable level of fitness to undertake this challenge, and carry suitable clothing and equipment (for example compass, whistle, first aid, waterproofs etc).  Re-hydration liquids and food should be carried to maintain their safety and comfort for the duration of the event.
  8. Entrants should carry and refer to O.S Explorer Map OL 24, ‘The WhitePeak’.  The route description is based on this map.
  9. Dogs not allowed.
  10. The Leaden Boot Challenge route traverses paths, trails or open access land.  It does not cross over unapproved farm property. Please stick to paths.
  11. The route follows some minor roads; please take great care along these sections.
  12. The entrance fee will be refunded for cancellations before 1st May subject to a £5 deduction for administration.
  13. The organisers reserve the right to incorporate/change rules as they deem necessary even to having to cancel the event in extraordinary circumstances.  Their decision will be final.
