The ‘Mills n Moors Series’ explores trails across moors and valleys in the north of England on four Sunday morning rides. We have 4 routes in the Series with starting points Hebden Bridge, Settle and Grassington. We cross open moorland using public rights of way and whilst 90% of the trail are in good condition and are NOT techy enduro or downhill mtb style routes there will be mud, puddles, steep sections of trail where you might have to push your bike (‘hike-a-bike’), stream crossings and of course ruts / rocks as its the north of England and not a trail centre.
Each of the routes covers a variety of terrain on Pennine moorland and steep valley sides. The trail surfaces include cobbles, grass, gravel that is compact, gravel that is loose, gravel that is smooth, gravel full of potholes, concrete trackways, stone slabs, tarmac and everything in between! We recommend tyres of 40mm upwards.
The rides on the Mills n Moors Series are a personal challenge. They are not races and there is no ‘mass start’. Riders may start at any time as they will have received the gpx route file the week before the start date.
The group social ride departs at 10am from each of the four starting points. If you aren’t 100% confident about following a gpx route file or reading an OS map or just want to ride with a bunch of other folk on a bike then join us. There is no fixed speed we cycle at. We will be stopping and waiting for each other and we can take turns opening the many gates!
You can enter with the following bike types: Gravel bike / Cyclocross bike / Mountain bike / E-bike. The terrain is not suitable for road bikes. A spirit of adventure is an advantage!
