Coniston Fell Race - Final Details

If you haven't updated your 'on the day' details since Thursday 23rd April you will need to fill out an 'on the day' form at registration.

The weather on Saturday's not forecast to be as pleasant on the tops as it has been recently so it's FULL KIT.

The PETE BLAND SPORTS VAN will NOT be trading.

Maps will be on sale at registration, but nothing else.

You must arrive with the correct kit.

MANDATORY KIT

Waterproof jacket with taped seams and attached hood.

Waterproof trousers with taped seams

Gloves (must offer some insulation)

Hat (must cover your ears) or buff

Emergency food

Paper map suitable for navigating the course

Traditional compass

Whistle

PARKING will be at Coniston CE Primary School, LA21 8AL - W3W richly.curving.rewrites. There will be a charge of £5 per car and space is limited, so please car share where possible. Payment is cash only; please bring the exact amount if you can. The car park will open at 09:45. All parking proceeds will go to the school.

No parking anywhere else in the village please as this will jeopardise the future of the race.

REGISTRATION will be at the Coniston Institute, LA21 8DU - W3W nibbles.amending.tender - and will open at 10:00. The route from the car park will be marked. Registration will close at 11:45.

KIT CHECK for all runners will take place at registration prior to collecting numbers. There is no wiggle room on the above list - please don't argue with the kit-checkers.

RACE NUMBERS must be clearly displayed on the front of your vest and not folded in any way, as per FRA rules - runners wearing their numbers incorrectly will not be allowed to start. 

RUNNING/WALKING POLES are not permitted.

NAVIGATION is by traditional map & compass only - as per FRA rules. The use of any GPS device is forbidden apart from in an emergency and the runner must then declare themselves non-competitive at the finish.

TOILETS are in the institute. There are no toilets on the finish field this year.

RACE BRIEF will take place at 1155 on the start line. Before we start this year Ian Holmes will say a few words in memory of Colin Moses who sadly passed away at the weekend; this will be followed by a minute's silence before the race starts.

CUT-OFF: there will be a 90 minute cut-off at Swirl Hause - GR 27800075. This will be strictly enforced.

TEAS, COFFEES, AND CAKES will be provided at the Institute from 10:00 by Coniston CE Primary at a small cost; payment by cash or card. All proceeds will go to the school.

WATER will be available at the finish.

PRIZE GIVING will take place in the institute at 14:30. In addition to the regular category prizes there's a £100 Pete Bland Sports voucher for anybody who sets a new men's or women's record. Please note the Men's and Women's categories are open categories, so vets and U23s are eligible for prizes as well as in their respective age categories.

RESULTS will be available on ukresults.net after the race.

All PROCEEDS from race entries will be donated to the Coniston Mountain Rescue Team.
