WELCOME

To Blackstone Edge Fell Race 2026. The weather forecast for race day is Sunny spells, chance of showers, approximately 8-10 degrees with light winds.

COMPULSORY EQUIPMENT & KIT CHECKS

Compulsory KIT checks will be carried out up until the start of each race at registration. You will be issued with a race number and SI Dibber, only when the race organisation are satisfied you meet the race kit requirements,. No kit, no run:

Waterproof whole body cover (with taped seams and integrated attached hood)
Hat & gloves

TRAVEL TO THE EVENT

There is easy access to the event from all directions to Lydgate, Littleborough and the A58. Please follow Marshal instructions to ensure that a one way system is used to alleviate congestion on the narrow Blackstone Edge Old Road. Passing places will be created to allow passage of vehicles, DO NOT PARK IN THEM.

PARKING

PLEASE CAR SHARE - This is super important to avoid issues. see map - Blackstone Edge Fell Race - Todmorden Harriers

There will be a marshal at the entrance to Blackstone Edge Old Road (south end) and further Marshal's to ensure efficient parking, please be polite and follow their instructions.

If you cause an obstruction upon the public highway by inconsiderate parking, you'll receive no sympathy from race organisation if the local constabulary take action, they are aware of the event and may be in the area.

FACILITIES AT THE RACE

FOOD - St James Church Ladies will providing homemade cakes, hot and cold drinks - cash or card excepted.
PETE BLAND SPORTS, championship sponsor - will be located on the event field near to registration.
FIRST AID - Located on the Event field
TOILETS - Portable toilets and a urinal on the event field

EVENT TIMES:

9.00am - Registration opens.

11.00am- Women's race start.

11.30am- Lead women expected to finish.

12.00pm- Women's presentation.

12.30pm- Men's race start.

12.55pm- Lead men expected to finish.

1.45pm- Men's presentation.

START will be on Old Blackstone Edge Old Road near to Registration.

FINISH will be upon the event field.

THE ROUTE is quite obvious, all flagged including open land areas.

CHECKPOINT at Blackstone Edge summit will require you to dib your SI card. In addition there will be marshals at numerous locations along the race route.

Please thank the marshals as you pass them.

SWEEPER & FIRST AID
There will be sweepers on both Women's and Men's races, they are there to keep an eye on you from the rear of the race and confirming to Marshals on-route that the last runner has passed by. Some of the marshals will have a basic first aid kits.

YOU MUST REPORT TO THE FINISH AND HAND IN YOUR SI-CARD

At the end of the event, whether you Finish or need to retire, all SI-Cards MUST be handed in to the Registration/Download desk. Telling a checkpoint marshal isn't sufficient. Reporting to the Finish is an essential safety requirement of the event and avoids an unnecessary call out to mountain rescue and a potential ban by the FRA from future events. You will not get a result for the event until the SI-Card is handed in as all your times are stored on the card. Failure to hand back a hired SI-Card will incur a charge of £30 and could disqualify you from taking part in a future event.

Results will be uploaded soon after you hand in your SI-Card and If you scan the QR Code at the bottom of your splits print, you can see online results on your phone at the venue, mobile signal permitting.
