Tour De Yr Wyddfa - Final Details

Thank you for registering for the Tour de Yr Wyddfa race. This year is the first time we have organized the race, we really appreciate your support.  Looking forward to seeing you all

This race would not happen without an amazing team of marshals, remember to say thank you, make their lives easy for them do what they say.

Registration and Timings

HQ, 'Kit check' the start and finish of the race will be at 'The Heights Llanberis'

Do not park in The Heights car park, use the car parks by the lake

'Kit check' and registration will be 6.30 to 7:30.

Briefing will be at 7.45.

Race will start at 8.00

Prizing giving 14:30-15:00ish

See kit list on the home page.  No kit,  No run, my decision is final.  If in doubt, bring extra.

The check points are:

Rhydd Du car park

Nant Gwynant

Penypas car park (cut off 1pm)

Above Idwal Cottage (cut off 3pm)

A470 Nant Gwastadant

In each of them it is your responsibility to see that the marshal records your number and that  you 'dib'. If your number is not entered. you will be disqualified.

Key notes

When you start the race, keep quiet until you are out of town.

If you do the half race/relay you need money or a card to pay for a bus to go from Pen y pas to Llanberis, we advise everyone to have some sort of money on them. 

Relay/pairs: you must come back to Llanberis and hand in your dibber, confirm you are safe.

If you run as a pair you must stay together at all times.

You must keep to the route, there is no route choice.

There is a metal bridge before Rhydd Du quarry. There could be ice – take care. Shut the gate

Run to the conditions on all of the course.

Take care on the road crossings.

There will be flags on some of the route down to Gwastadnant where it is not clear. You must follow them, other paths are dangerous.

On the other side of the A470 at Gwastadnant, the bridge can be slipping.  TH route goes across private land. There is a gate to fund the land. You must close the gate. Sheep will go onto the A470 if there is a gate is open.

You must keep to the marked path over the private land.

Please follow the flags in the park in Llanberis and use the crossing on the main road.

Safety

Checkpoints will have basic first aid, and sleeping bag and bivy in case of an accident.

If a marshal tells you to put on an extra layer, put it on, if you refuse you will be disqualified – hypothermia kills.

Cut offs

You must arrive at Pen y Pas before 1.00. You must arrive at the path junction above Bwthyn Idwal Cottage before 3.00.

If you are not sure if you will get to above Bwthyn Idwal Cottage before 3pm, stop at Pen y Pas. It’s a faff getting back from from Bwthyn Idwal Cottage by bus. You will still be included in the half race.

Finish

There will be soup and rolls from 12:00, tea and coffee from 11:00 at the finish in The Heights.
