Halifax Urban Trail - Final Details

Event Website

Monday 6th April 2026

We are just a few days away from the inaugural Halifax Urban Trail! We’re looking forward to welcoming you at Shibden Park on Easter Monday.

Here are a few boring but important things to note for the day, so please read this email.

The race is full!  There will be no entry on the day.

The race starts at 9:30am. There will be a safety briefing at 9:25, please ensure you are ready (and quiet!) at the start for this.

Please arrive in good time to collect your number from registration. (Registration opens at 8am and closes at 9.20am.) Registration is inside the café of Shibden Park, Halifax.

At registration, please look first for your race number on the sheet on the wall before heading to the table to get your number. Please complete the health info etc on the back. If you’re pre-ordered a t-shirt, this will be given to you at registration.  Photos are being taken during the race; tell us at registration if for any reason you don’t want photos of you to be used.

The turn to Shibden Park for motorists is off the main A58 Halifax-Bradford road. However, there is no left turn into the park if you are approaching from the Bradford (eastern) side.  You’ll need to continue a short way into Halifax, turning back at a roundabout and following the brown tourist signs to Shibden Park (NOT the signs to Shibden Hall), and getting ready to turn right into the park as you leave Halifax through a cutting.

We’re asking you to share cars if you are driving if you possibly can. There is parking for nearly 300 cars in the park. Normal council car parking charges will apply from 9am (the charges at time of writing are £2 for two hours, £3 for three hours). There will be signage and marshals at the entrance to the carpark but if the car park is full when you arrive you will be directed to park in the streets near Stump Cross Inn, about 500m from the park.

There will be plenty of toilets available.

There will be medical professionals stationed on the route and also at the finish.

Headphones: no headphones are being allowed at this race at all, including bone conducting headphones. This is due to the unique nature of this event which means that you may need to be directed more by marshals than you would at some other events.  Sorry, but there will be a strict DQ policy for anyone seen using headphones of any type!  (Dogs and buggies are also not permitted under England Athletics rules of course).

Should you be unable to finish please hand your number to the nearest marshal.  We will try and pick up anyone who is unable to finish, however this may involve a wait. If you can make your own way back to the start so much the better.

We will aim to do prize giving at 11:30. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female finishers and first place vets for v40, v50, v60, v70 and v80. Please do stay if you can to support your fellow runners!

If you are unable to take part please get in touch ([email protected]) and let us know. We cannot offer refunds but we can offer deferrals.

If you’ve forgotten quite what you’ve signed up for (!), have a look at our website: https://halifaxurbantrail.org.uk. There’s a map there and full details of the route.

This race is organised entirely by local runners and we can’t wait to show you around Halifax on Easter Monday!
