The Cake Race - Final Details

We hope you are looking forward to the Cake Race on Saturday 3rd May at the Diggle Hotel, Diggle, OL3 5JZ.  This is the new venue for this year.

Registration will open from 9.30am onwards at the Diggle Hotel.

Late entrants.  On-line entries are still open and the race is unlikely to be full.  We will accept entries on the day so if your team mates of friends want a run they would be very welcome

Cakes.  There are lots of entries with Cakes, the bake-off will be hotly contested (but not over baked).  If you said you would bring a cake but life got in the way just bring a crisp £5 note.  If you did not promise a cake you can still bring one along.

Any donations towards cake consumption will go to the Huntingdon’s Disease Association.

Timings.  We are doing an early start at 10:15am and one mass start at 11am.  If you are not sure when to start here is a guide:

·     The winners normally take about an hour

·     If you are going to take 1 hour 50 mins or less please start at 11am.

·     If you are going to take more than 2 hours and a bit, please start at 10:15am.

·     If you are going to take between 1:50 and about 2:00 the choice is very much yours

ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE.  from 6am on Saturday, May 3.

Traffic will not be able to travel along the roads indicated in the image.  Diversionary routes will be available to view on www.roadworks.org closer to the time.   Please allow extra time as it is sure to be busy in the surrounding areas.

Parking.  Please be considerate, there are expected to be 140 entrants, and therefore lots of cars.  There is street parking in the village and at Diggle band club, please do as requested by the marshals.  Do not park on the bridge over the railway line near the venue.

Kit.  We normally ask you to take a waterproof with a hood.  Please be prepared to bring the below kit:-

• Map
• Compass
• Water proof bottoms
• Hat
• Gloves

The required kit will be at my discretion on the day, depending upon my assessment of the conditions.
