Thanks for supporting the inaugural Hartsop Hop.
Please take a moment to check these final details.
The weather looks good – however as the race is only marginally shorter than some ALs, full FRA kit requirement is mandatory. (Hat or buff, gloves, whistle, waterproof top and bottoms, emergency food, compass and map.)
· Maps: Waterproof maps (A4, 1:50k) will be available at registration. A donation to the Eden Valley Hospice would be appreciated. (100 are available first come first served – please be prepared to use your own map in case all have gone when you arrive.)
There is reasonable mobile signal around the course, except in the vicinity of CP3. Carrying a fully charged mobile is recommended but not mandatory. Please look out for each other but remember, you are responsible for your own safety on the hill.
None of the course is marked. Using GPS to navigate is prohibited.
If you retire at any point, return by the shortest route directly to the finish and inform the marshals at the finish – even if you have already spoken to marshals on the hill.
· Parking: Please bring £2 exact change – the field will be signed and is the same as used for the Hodgsons relay leg 2. Open from 8.45am
· Registration: In the parking field – opens 9am and closes 10.30am
· Toilets: Two portaloos in the parking field.
· Race start: 11am at the Sheep Pens, 5 mins walk from the parking field.
o Please make sure you are there 5 mins before. There will be a headcount and quick briefing.
· At all CPs: use the punch controls in situ to punch your race number in the box marked for each CP.
· Cut off: 70 mins at CP2 – if you are asked to retire, please return to the start via the path which passes to the north of The Knott and down by Hayeswater. (If the weather remains good, a short extension to this may be given – this will be confirmed at the race start briefing.)
· CP5 to the finish: Please be careful on the last descent if you take the direct line off the ridge. It is steep with lots of rocks beneath the grass. Not a good place for a fast slide.
· Finish: Close to the Sheep Pens – it will be signed.
· Results: will be available / updated at the finish as quickly as possible.
· Prizes: Thanks to Kong Running for the prizes. A prize giving will be held as soon as possible and no later than 3pm.
All proceeds from the race will go to the Eden Valley Hospice.
