Half Marathon'ish Off-Road Event for Walkers & Runners

In 2024, we achieved a 52% female participation rate in the half marathon. This is something that we are very proud of and have been working hard towards. It is way beyond other comparable races and we intend to always work as hard as we can to ensure our races continue to be seen as the most female friendly out there.

  • Race category BL. 14.8 miles/1750’
  • Race for individuals only starts at 10:30am (early starts available from 9.35am to 10am for very slow runners only)
  • Click here for half marathon race route
  • 2 well stocked feed stations.
  • Very popular race that sells out every year and ideal for beginners to fell running. Very generous cut offs and early starts available if concerned about cut offs.
  • Everything else as per full marathon above including deferral/substitution policy

Event Substitutions, Deferrals, Cancellation & Swops Between Races - Applies to both races

a) Free deferrals to Yorkshireman Off Road Marathon 2028 by editing your entry to 31/07/2027. Strictly no deferrals will be allowed after this date with exception of female competitors who are pregnant or are within 2 years post birth. Please do not ask after deferral date as enormous time goes into preparing event and from deferral closure date, we immediately start to incur large costs. The race entry cost is priced based on this deferral date.

b) If you are unable to compete but you have found a substitute, then you may substitute to them (no charge) or sell your place to them via system (£3 admin fee) by 31/7/2027. Please note this substitution/sale date is now 15 days earlier than previous years.

c) There are no refunds available from organisers at any stage.

d) You can swop between half and full (either way) on the system until 31/7/27. After this, please email [email protected] until 31/8/2027. After this, we will allow free swaps between half/full on race day itself if you turn up early but ideally please try to advise us by 31/8/27 at latest.

e) If you pay for t-shirt in advance and it is not collected within 10 minutes of last competitor as per race terms and conditions, we will sell it off with 100% of proceeds going to charity/local good causes. If you have bought a hoodie/zoodie and cannot collect, you have 48 hours to contact us after end of race to [email protected] otherwise we will sell off with all proceeds to charity/local good causes.

Why are Half Marathon & Full Marathon the same cost unlike other races?

In practice, the vast majority of organising costs are same to us whichever race you choose and only marginally more expensive for somebody doing the full marathon. By having the same cost, it means  we can allow free swaps between the races until race day morning and have zero hassle on admin regards charging minor extra for those who move up to the full marathon.

The Yorkshireman supports Into Ultra . This is a new organisation set up to promote inclusivity in ultra running and provides help such as free race places, help with travel costs and other benefits to financially disadvantaged people who would like to compete. Please contact them directly as help may be available for your entry.

The Yorkshireman fully supports SheRaces.com and we actively ensure that all guidelines are met to ensure our races are seen as amongst the most female friendly around. We had a female participation rate of 52% in the 2024 Yorkshireman Off Road half marathon.
