Join us as we connect the varied 'off-road' tracks that radiate from the Bike Shop in Halifax and out into the Calder Valley on our women's gravel bike and mtb event.

There are four routes that tell the story of women and girls lives across the mills and moors of West Yorkshire.

GRAVEL - the adventure sort which can be a bit bumpy:

Lister’s Trail - 25km / 450m

Happy Valley - 92km / 1,650m

MTB - the real deal with big climbs and descents on old tracks:

Patience’s Fury - 42km / 900m

Riot Women - 84km / 1,500m

EVENT DETAILS

  • The start line is at the Bike Shop, Deal Street, Halifax, West Yorkshire

  • Enjoy a relaxed tea / coffee / cake inside the bike shop
  • You will receive each gpx route file in the week leading up to the event

  • You do not have to declare which route you are riding when you sign onto the event. You will receive each GPX and so can decide on the day which route to take and swap between routes depending on the conditions

THE ROUTES

  • Any gravel bike / mountain bike / E-MTB or E-GRVL bike is welcome
  • Each route has sections of trail which are smooth and those that are gritty
  • It is a self-guided ride with no way markings saying ‘Mills n Moors route’

ON THE DAY

  • All registered riders sign on inside the shop on the Sunday from 8am to 11am
  • Head off when you're ready as there is NO ‘mass start’
  • Toilet and changing facilities at the Event Hub

  • Tea / coffee / home made cakes before your ride

THE RIDE

  • The rides on the 'Mills n Moors Series' are a personal challenge, they are not race, there is no ‘mass start', the route is NOT way marked and there is no rescue vehicle.

  • We ride on bridleways, tracks, forest trails, moorland singletrack, dry peat, soggy peat, urban greenways and the canal towpath.

  • Some downhill and uphill sections are physically challenging and there are tracks across open moorland therefore all riders should pack full waterproofs and have an emergency contact number.

  • Riders take part in a Mills n Moors event knowing that it is their personal responsibility to ensure they follow the Highway Code when on roads, the Countryside Code when out on the moors and their own judgement when faced with changing weather and varied trail conditions.
