This is an urban orienteering race around the streets of Witney.

Witney is an historic market town some 12 miles west of Oxford,  best known for its centuries-old woollen blanket industry and its location on the edge of the Cotswolds.

For those new to orienteering, urban races are a great introduction to the sport - the navigation is less demanding than for forest events. Even so, the streets of Witney will provide plenty of challenges to keep even experienced orienteers on their toes. Runners in particular should find urban orienteering an enjoyable and different challenge from a road race.

Entry is by class. To be competitive in the South of England Orienteering Urban League (SEOUL), enter your age class as shown (or run up). If you’re not interested in this league, then ignore the Class details! Just enter whatever length of course you fancy. If you have been to our some of our Saturday Series events, you will find the technical difficulty of an urban race like this no more difficult than an Orange course. So if you can do an Orange then just choose the length of course you prefer.

Unaccompanied under 16s can only enter on courses 7 & 8 which do not cross any major roads. Estate roads with a 20mph speed limit need to be crossed to complete course 7.

Unaccompanied under 12s can only enter on course 8 which has no road crossings. We recommend that younger juniors are accompanied on their courses.

Distances are estimates subject to final controlling.
