Race registration for this trail half marathon is at Bowes & Gilmonby Village Hall, Bowes.

Entrants will pass by Bowes Castle, built on the site of a Roman Fort in the 12th century, to the start of the race.

The route will head along the Pennine Way, over God's Bridge and then across Bowes Moor towards Blackton reservoir following the Pennine Way permanent route markers. The route will then loop back, past Goldsborough Carr, over Deepdale Beck to Bowes where a warm welcome back will await.

Finishers will return to race headquarters at Bowes & Gilmonby Village hall to pick up drop bags etc.

Registration: 8.30am to 9.15am.

Start Time: 09.30am.

Facilities: toilets will be available at the Race Headquarters at the village hall. There is also an opportunity to drop a bag / jacket off for collection post-race providing it is clearly marked with your race number.

Parking: Parking is available at the village hall (limited).

Terrain: the route is on dirt tracks and across fields with a stream crossing. There are tree roots, boggy sections and a mile long road finish. Trail shoes (avoid huge lugs due to road finish) or hybrids are recommended.

Minimum Kit: Runners must carry a packable waterproof jacket and trousers, bivvy bag, marked up map, a fully charged mobile with the organisers contact details, hat, gloves and at least 500ml of water. A whistle & compass are also recommended. Spot kit checks will be performed. As the route is exposed, we need to ensure that all runners are prepared for any eventuality.

In order to reduce the environmental impact of this event, we shall not be giving out water bottles or disposable cups. Please bring your own water bottle or reusable cups for top-ups via water butts, many thanks.
