A 28-MILE CHALLENGE WALK THROUGH LONDON
ORGANISED BY LONG DISTANCE WALKERS ASSOCIATION LONDON GROUP
Celebrating the best of London's green spaces, this urban walk is almost completely mud-free traversing parks, waterways and public paths. Simple refreshments are offered at the start, finish and checkpoints along the way. The route passes a wide variety of shops and cafes and the route description points out places of historical and cultural interest.
Start & finish are close to public transport.
This event is not for runners. Walkers only please.
ROUTE
This year we will be taking the original ie northern route. The route passes through the Royal Parks, Hampstead Heath, the Parkland Walk, the Woodberry Wetlands, the River Lea, and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park..
The 2027 route description and GPX file will be made available to participants approximately one week before the event.
START, CHECKPOINTS, AND FINISH
Start near Waterloo station between 07:30 and 08:30. Slower walkers start early and faster walkers start later please.
Hot drinks will be available at the start. All entrants will receive a scannable identity card to present at each checkpoint and finish to track progress. There are four checkpoints. Two provide simple refreshments and two are for monitoring only (ie no refreshments). NO BOTTLED WATER, to reduce the amount of plastic waste this walk generates; instead, the route description will point out water fountains along the way and we will, where possible, provide pitchers of good old hard London tap water at checkpoints.
Finish by 18:30. Refreshments at finish. Easy access to stations at Stratford.

RESULTS
We will use electronic registration and tracking so that results can be published on the LDWA London website with split times immediately after the event. If you prefer your name to be withheld, please tell us. All in-time finishers will receive a certificate.
YOUNG PEOPLE
Participants aged between 11 and 18 years (inclusive) will be required to complete and bring with them to the event a completed copy of the parental consent form. Participants under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult. Please contact the event organiser to request a copy of the consent form.
