Each participant needs to put in an individual entry EXCEPT accompanied youngsters under 18 who go for FREE (when accompanied by a paying adult who must be 21+). Juniors aged 16 and above can run/walk alone with parental permission - in this case they need their own individual entry with discretionary discount codes available as below: Individual entrants aged 16-21 are invited to use the discretionary discount code SpunchZoom50. This will provide a 50% discount on the applicable entry fee. Intended for students in full time education or on very low or zero income. Entrants aged 22-25 are invited to use the young adult discount code Spunch25. This will provide a 25% discount on the applicable entry fee intended for young adults just starting out in life with low resources. A waterproof map of the course is provided to ALL participants. Spunch! Is a big sporty treasure hunt with a difference - a fun, friendly & safe mini-adventure with a unique & colourful map. Suitable for all ages & abilities - no previous experience required. Locals and newcomers always welcome.
Run or walk. 2k to 22k, the choice is yours! 60, 90 and 120 min course duration options (you can choose on the day itself).
The event is open to all and we are delighted to be staging this one from the White Horse Inn in collaboration with the Shropshire Shufflers in aid of the Severn Hospice.
£5 of every paid entry will go to the Severn Hospice.
There will also be a Christmas Fayre at the White Horse Inn during the day which will provide another opportunity to support the Severn Hospice further (cake sales etc).
Visit as many checkpoints as you can in the time available, satellite punching using the MapRun app on your smartphone, Garmin or Apple Watch. With over 60 SpunchPoints to go for - how many will you bag?
For runners, walkers, friends & families. Go solo, pair or in a group of 3 or more. Lots of help available for newbies. Dogs are welcome too, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
On-site Registration opens at 12pm and you can start anytime from 12pm to 2:30pm. (Last start for 90 min course 2pm; last start for 120 min course 1:30pm). One of our Winter daytime series - all in daylight. Sunset about 4pm.
Final details and the MapRun courses are usually published to all entrants on the day before the event giving you time to make a route plan!
Where?
The White Horse Inn, 7 Wenlock Road, Shrewsbury SY2 6JJ.
The venue will provide a warm welcome with drinks and food available (details to be confirmed). The venue has both indoor and outdoor areas and is both child & dog friendly.
Parking, Registration, Help, Bag Drop, Loos, Start, Finish, Results, Food & Drink all at or near the venue.
The Area & Course
This Spunch will be mostly urban including the Belle Vue and Cherry Orchard regions of Shrewsbury but will also incorporate the beautiful Rea Brook valley. You can expect some great running / walking with lovely views. There will be both hilly and less hilly options! A mixture of underfoot conditions from tarmac to off-road paths*. There will be something for everyone and even locals will likely discover new paths and places!
Hope you will come along and give it a go. *total absence of mud can not be guaranteed!
