Start window: 1230pm to 3pm Last start for 180 min course 1pm; Last start for 120 min course 2pm.
Can be done solo, in a pair, or as a group of 3 or more. Each participant needs to put in an individual entry EXCEPT accompanied youngsters under 18 who go for FREE (when accompanied by a paying adult who must be 21+). Juniors aged 16 and above can run/walk alone with parental permission - in this case they need their own individual entry with discretionary discount codes available as below: Individual entrants aged 16-21 are invited to use the discretionary discount code SpunchZoom50. This will provide a 50% discount on the applicable entry fee. Intended for students in full time education or on very low or zero income. Entrants aged 22-25 are invited to use the young adult discount code Spunch25. This will provide a 25% discount on the applicable entry fee intended for young adults just starting out in life with low resources. A waterproof map of the course is provided to ALL participants. Spunch! Is a big sporty treasure hunt with a difference - A fun, friendly & safe mini-adventure with a unique & colourful map. Suitable for all ages & abilities - no previous experience required. Locals and newcomers always welcome.
Run or walk. 3k to 33k, the choice is yours! 60, 120 and 180 min course duration options (you can choose on the day itself).
The event is open to all and we are delighted to be staging this one from the forgedamcafe.co.uk
Visit as many checkpoints as you can in the time available, Satellite punching using the MapRun app on your smartphone, Garmin or Apple Watch. With over 60 SpunchPoints to go for - how many will you bag?
For runners, walkers, friends & families. Go solo, pair or in a group of 3 or more. We can usually pair you up on the day if you prefer not to go alone. Lots of help available for newbies. Dogs are welcome too, but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.
On-site Registration opens at 1230pm and you can start anytime from 1230pm to 3pm. (Last start for 180 min course 1pm; Last start for 120 min course 2pm). One of our autumn all-in-daylight series. Sunset about 430pm, dark from about 5pm.
Final details and the MapRun courses are usually published to all entrants on the day before the event giving you time to make a route plan!
Where?
The Forge Dam Cafe, Forge Dam, Sheffield S10 3TE.
A first Spunch visit to the Forge Dam Cafe. The venue will provide a warm welcome with a wide selection of drinks and food available (details to be confirmed). The cafe is child & dog friendly.
Parking, Registration, Help, Bag Drop, Loos, Start, Finish, Results, Food & Drink all at or near the venue.
Getting there by car: About 10-15 mins from the city centre and the A61 ring road at University Square.
Arriving by public transport: A good one to come to by bus - the 120, 120k & 83 buses stop within 600m walk from the cafe. A short bus ride from the city centre & university area.
The Area & Course
An all-in-daylight countryside Spunch in a great area right on the western edge of the city and extending up into the Peak District. You will be exploring a rich network of paths & trails offering good running / walking and some lovely views to the east. You might visit the moorland paths up towards Ox Stones, woodland trails in Lady Canning's or the Limb Valley and lots more in between.
There will be no shortage of ups and downs at this one, so it will be quite physical for those covering bigger distances.
A mixture of underfoot conditions from tarmac to off-road trails*. There will be something for everyone and even locals will likely discover new paths and places!
Hope you will come along and give it a go. *total absence of mud can not be guaranteed!
