VOLUNTEERING TO MARSHAL AT THE SMALL PARK BIG RUN 

 

Thank you for offering to volunteer to help us put on small park BIG RUN. If this is your first time - welcome - small park BIG RUN is a joyous community event and a celebration of Palestine. We are now in our 10th year and hope you will join us to celebrate.  If you are coming back for more - thank you! Without our volunteers the event cannot run: its success depends on you helping it be a welcoming, inclusive and event safe for all.

 

What is it?

spBR is a unique, fun, 24-hour running community challenge in Meersbrook Park, Sheffield we raise awareness of and funds for women’s education and children’s mental health in Palestine.  

 

This is a community challenge. So, this year, just as when we started ten years ago, we aim to have at least two people running, walking, jogging or wheeling round a 1km  circuit of Meersbrook Park at all times over 24 hours. In 2025 over the 24 hours we had between roughly 10 and 50 on the course at any given time! 

 

So, please help us out by signing up to marshal.  To sign up click on the green "Enter Online" button at the top of the page which will take you through the registration process.  

 

Towards the end of the personal details form and before you choose your timeslots you will be asked "Are you on Whatsapp?". If you are, please check this box as it will help us communicate with you immediately before and during the event (but do not worry if you are not on whatsapp).  

 

You can choose during registration, via the "Time Slot" dropdown list, either to say either choose the timeslots you feel certain you will marshal or that you will choose them later: .  PLEASE, if you can, choose your timeslots during registration as this helps us enormously to ensure that we have enough marshals for every slot. If you opt to choose later we will send regular emails with a Heatmap showing how many marshals we have registered for each slot.

 

At the end of the sign up process you can also make a donation.

You will have the opportunity to register interest in merchandise including ordering a commemorative cotton or technical t-shirt, running vest or buff via the registration form. You can see the range of t-shirt sizes and all prices here

If you aren't going to be with us on the Sunday, please try to join us on a zoom when we will be broadcasting a mass sing - involving at least six choirs, the runners and their families and anyone else who wants to join in - from the park to the children in Gaza.
