Spread your Wings with NIMRA

Race Base: Sandy Brae, Attical (263 205)
Distance: 11km - 768m ascent
Join us on epic journey through the Western Mournes. Easy running up gravel path to cross the wall at the Cattle pens. Now the warmup’s done, climb to the Big Ol’ Boulder (Control point 1 - 267 217) on Slievemageogh. Head north along the broad ridge of Pigeon to the southerly summit and claim your 1st Birdie (Control point 2 - 264 244). Free running route choice to the Summit of Slievemoughanmore (Control point 3 – 250 242). A brisk descent brings us to the main event and the climb to our magnificent 2nd Birdie Eagle Mountain. From the summit (Control point 4 – 245 229) the course is marked down the precipitous edge of the cliffs below. Finish at Sandy Brae Carpark for buns and biccies.
Equipment:
All runners must carry;
- a) Whistle
- b) Emergency rations equivalent to one mars bar (minimum)
- c) Waterproof garments affording complete body protection
- d) Hat, gloves and a foil blanket
- e) Suitable footwear for a mountain race
