The Mortimer Forest Trail Race is back! Join us on 13th December for this iconic race.
PLEASE NOTE, due to forestry works, we have had to amend the 10-mile route slightly and alter start times. Full details are available on the website.
Due to forestry works over the Bringewood side, we unfortunately can't use the Big Dippers. However, we have devised an alternative route that is just as tough and enjoyable in equal measure! It still takes in the classic woodland running of Mortimers, with new views and old classics.
It is a 10 mile-ish multi terrain race set in the beautiful Mortimer Forest on the Herefordshire/Shropshire border. A challenging course held in the depths of winter, flowing through much of the main part of Mortimers, but after a stiff climb up to the top of High Vinnalls you are treated to a wonderful downhill finish, with views across the Welsh Marches, as far as the Malvern Hills and Brecon Beacons. Expect mud, hills and wonderful trails.
A shorter 4 mile course omits the longer mud and sticks to larger tracks, but still includes a trip up High Vinnalls with its far reaching views and cracking descent.
11:00 start for 4 mile and 11:15 start for 10 mile. NOTE: This is different to previous years.
The course will be marshalled and signed.
Minimum age for 10 mile is 19, minimum age for 4 mile is 15.
Participant medallions available. To reduce waste and manage production, these are limited to JUST 100 at a cost of £4, so enter soon! They are locally handmade, bespoke to this year's event, supporting an independent business.
Race HQ and parking will be at Moor Park School. Please only park at the school. The future of the event relies on the goodwill of neighbours and all forest users.
There is limited parking so please car share or take public transport.
Both routes start by Blackpool carpark, a short walk from the school.
No dogs allowed, humans only.
The route uses Forestry England land, with their kind permission. It goes without saying, but please be respectful of all land whether racing or doing a recce.
The race will be supporting Friends of Mortimer Forest and Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, with donations going to support the work they do in the forest.
