Welcome to the LOC North West Urban League event in Windermere. Everyone is welcome. Either enter your age class category, especially if you are looking for points in the NWUL rankings, or one of the open courses if you would prefer to run a different course.
The courses available are below. Full distance/climb is subject to final controlling and will be published on the LOC website ahead of the event.
| Course | Men's Classes | Women's Classes | Open Classes |
| 1 | MO | ||
| 2 | MV 40+; MSV 55+ | WO; WV 40+ | Course 2 Open |
| 3 | MUV 65+ | WSV 55+ | Course 3 Open |
| 4 | MHV 75+ | WUV 65+; WHV 75+ | Course 4 Open |
| 5 | MJ 16- | WJ 16- | Course 5 Open |
| 6 | MYJ 12- | WYJ 12- | Course 6 Open |
The courses have NWUL age categories assigned. You are welcome to enter any course, but you may not be eligible for the NWUL if you “run down” by entering a shorter course than that assigned. If you would prefer to run a shorter course, you should select “Course n Open”. If you wish to “run up” on a longer course for which you are competitive then just enter the category you wish to be included in.
Please note: we have decided all under 16’s must be accompanied, as per British Orienteering rules for urban events, as we are unable to ensure courses 5 and 6 are on completely traffic-free roads around Windermere. Any adult shadowing a Junior, who wishes to be competitive for the NWUL, must complete their own course first
We encourage running in pairs or groups – it is a really good way to start orienteering. To do this, enter the event using one person’s name, and please add the names of everyone accompanying in the ‘Additional names and ages’ box. You can also request extra maps, if required.
More details will be available on the LOC website at https://www.lakeland-orienteering.org.uk/events.
Everyone who attends must follow the ‘Participation Codes of Conduct’ which can be found at the British Orienteering website.
A quick reminder for newcomers: If you’re not currently a member of British Orienteering, you won’t be covered by the organisation’s public liability insurance for this event. You’re very welcome to take part, but please be aware that you do so at your own risk.
