The Aldi Ashby 20 is a well-established 20-mile road race, organised by runners from Ivanhoe Running Club. The scenic, undulating two-lap route is held mainly on closed roads and is ideally positioned as part of a spring marathon training plan. It is also a rewarding challenge in its own right.

· Entries open: Monday 26 October 2026 at 7:00pm - Entries can sell out within minutes - set an alarm!

· Field limit: maximum 1,500 runners. Initial entries may be accepted up to 1,700 to allow for expected withdrawals.

· There is no waiting list.

· Entries cannot be transferred or swapped to friends or clubmates.

· Withdrawals with refund (minus £5 admin fee) are available until Sunday 31st January.

No waiting list, withdrawals and refunds:

There is no waiting list. Once the available entries have been taken, a waiting list will not operate and withdrawn places will not be reallocated through a waiting list.

Entries cannot be transferred or swapped to another runner. If you can no longer take part, you may withdraw and receive a refund less a £5 administration charge, provided the withdrawal is completed by the published deadline.

Withdrawal and refund deadline: Sunday 31st January. After this date, race-number preparation and mailing will begin and refunds will not be available.

Cut-off times:

To comply with the event road-closure permits and allow the roads to reopen safely, the race operates two mandatory cut-off points. Please only enter if you expect to meet both cut-offs.

Cut-off point 1 - 10 miles: 2 hours 20 minutes gun time

This is a strict cut-off measured by the halfway clock, located after the drinks station and the village of Packington at the start of the second lap. Runners who do not reach this point within the cut-off time will be withdrawn from the race and directed back to the Bath Grounds.

Cut-off point 2 - 15 miles: 3 hours 30 minutes gun time

The 15-mile point is approximately at Heather Village Hall. Runners who do not reach this point within the cut-off time will be withdrawn. They should arrange their own transport back where possible. Safe transport back to the Bath Grounds will be provided for anyone unable to do so. It is not safe to walk back along the route once the road closures are removed.

These cut-offs broadly equate to a maximum finish time of approximately 4 hours 45 minutes. The race team reserves the right to withdraw a runner after the 15-mile cut-off if the permitted road-closure timings are likely to be exceeded. This is necessary to protect runners, marshals and other road users while the roads are reopened.

Headphones:

As with most road races, earphones are not permitted. Bone-conduction headphones and medically prescribed hearing devices are allowed, subject to the applicable UK Athletics rules and event licence conditions.

Accessibility and guide runners:

Due to the nature of the course, gradients and road-closure arrangements, the course is not suitable for wheelchair participation.

If you are a visually impaired runner who requires a guide, please enter the race and then email [email protected] with your guide runner's email address. We will issue a free-entry invitation to your guide runner.

Bag drop:

Please leave bags in the secure bag area so that warm clothing and other belongings are available as soon as you finish. 

Medical and emergency information:

Please ensure that your race entry is updated with all known medical conditions that the race medical team should be aware of, together with current emergency contact details.

Data protection and anti-doping:

All entrants are covered by the rights provided under applicable data-protection legislation, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

An entrant shall be deemed to have made themselves familiar with, and agreed to be bound by, the UKA Anti-Doping Rules and to submit to the authority of UK Anti-Doping in the application and enforcement of those rules. The UKA Anti-Doping Rules apply to entrants participating in athletics for 12 months from the date of entry, whether or not the licence holder is a citizen of, or resident in, the UK.
