Departing from: South Devon Railways - Totnes Heritage Riverside Station ( NOT Totnes mainline station)
Journey/Distance: Long 10K (6.8 trail miles) in South Devon
Your Journey:
Our Start Line for this unique race is at South Devon Railways Totnes Heritage Station (please DO NOT go to Totnes Mainline station as this is the wrong station!) Spectators with a ticket will board the Jolly Running Express Race Train in the hope of catching a glimpse of their family and friends’ running as the train makes its journey. You and the Jolly Running Express then wait for the whistle to blow, which starts the race. The Beat the Train is a 6.8 mile trail route along riverside paths and woodland trails from Totnes Heritage Station to Staverton Station and back to Totnes Station. It is an out and back course turning around at the waterstation at Staverton Station.
The train and the runners race to Staverton Station where the train has a short stop before returning back to Totnes, this is your opportunity to steam on ahead and make it back to Totnes before the train. Will you Beat the Train?
As part of the unique Beat the Train experience you can ride on the train you are due to race by departing from Buckfastleigh Station on our Park n Ride option. The train will bring you to the start line at Totnes Heritage Railway Station, where you will disembark and prepare to Beat the Train.
Jolly Running Express Park & Ride (Departs Buckfastleigh at 8.15am): You can park for free at Buckfastleigh Train Station, just minutes from the A38 and catch the Jolly Running Express to the start line, then after the race you can catch any Train back to your car, places are limited so early booking is highly recommended. You can also book places for your friends and family too. Each Seat costs just £7 PP Return Ticket
Jolly Running Express Race Train: This train is for spectators only!! When entering you can also book seats for your friends and family to ride on the Jolly Running Express Race Train as spectators during the race itself, they will travel on the train from Totnes Riverside Heritage Station to Staverton and back, catching sight of the runners along the Riverside and at Staverton Station.
If your Family and Friends want to use the Park & RIde from Buckfastleigh and then the Race Train you need to buy the seperate tickets for both trains for each person.
All finishers receive a Bespoke Beat the Train Medal.
Runners can also park at various pay and display car parks in Totnes and walk to the start at Totnes Heritage Riverside Station - NOT THE MAIN TOTNES STATION.
