Barbondale Round Anytime Challenge

Set in pleasant rural scenery and close to, but away from the hustle and bustle of the Lake District and the busier Dales, Barbon is situated in the Lune valley, some 3 miles north of the historic town of Kirkby Lonsdale and close to the point where Barbon Beck joins the River Lune.
This will be an Anytime Challenge event for Summer 2021. All entrants are expected to walk the route at a time of their choosing, between the 10th July and 29th August, following the route description and maps provided. The event is entirely unsupported and there will be no marshals on the route. All money raised will go to Mountain Rescue.
Route: A circular route, starting from the Barbon village hall the route takes you almost immediately into Barbon Park. You soon leave the open parkland behind entering woodland. Once clear of the trees a quite different aspect of Barbondale unfolds as you enter an upland landscape crossing Crag Hill, Great Coum and Calf Top.
Start and Finish in Barbon village, there is a village hall car park grid reference SD628824, there is an honesty box by the front door. Barbon has no public toilets. There is a small shop/coffee takeaway and a pub.
The event is entirely unsupported, so there are no refreshments provided and no marshals on the route.
This event offers the choice of a 24 or 14.5 mile route starting at the car park of the Barbon village hall (GR SD628824)
The route descriptions and maps will be emailed once entered.
All finishers MUST email to westlancsldwa@gmail.com a photo of the trig points they pass (One on the short route and two on the long) to show they have completed the route, with their distance and time and they will receive a personalised, print at home, certificate by email. A woven badge is available for £1.00. Sae needed, limited numbers.
