Junior / Student | £2.00 |
Entries:
A limit of 150 competitors, who must be members of British Orienteering. However we will be accepting a small number of entries from newcomers who should contact development@sroc.org before entering on-line. No entry on the day.
At this time we are not able to hire dibbers to anyone who does not have one (except in the case of newcomers who need first to contact development@sroc.org), but any SROC members who do not own a dibber can request - contact Chris Roberts - to collect one at the event and keep it for the foreseeable future.
Courses:
There are NO loose control descriptions, but they are on the map. Loose descriptions can be printed via this link. Controls (including the finish) are in beacon mode so they can be punched contactlessly if you have a SIAC.
Terrain:
Knots Wood was last used in 2011. The map has been fully updated and brought up to the current mapping specification.
Map Scale: 1:7500
Knots Wood is an area of open woodland with some areas of dense rhododendrons and has few footpaths and some vehicle tracks. There are numerous rock and contour features to provide a technical challenge. The dense green stripes represent rhododendron brashings which are a significant obstacle but it is usually possible to pick your way through.
Start:
15 minutes start blocks, starts between 10.30 and 12.30.
The Start is about 5 minutes walk. Only go to the start just prior to starting.
Remember to:
On a minute shown by the digital clock, physically punch the start and then pick up your map from the box provided (please ensure you only take one).
Finish/Download:
Please move away from the Finish quickly, and proceed directly to download forming a queue if necessary keeping at least 2m apart. Use the sanitiser provided before you download and take the splits – these are pre cut and you do not need to touch the printer. Please move away from download quickly.
Results will not be displayed on the day but will be on the website www.sroc.org in the evening.
Facilities:
Portaloos will be available close to or in the parking field.
First Aid – a first aid kit will be available at download for people to self administer.
Travel Directions/parking:
Parking will be in a field accessed by a rough forestry track which is steep and loose in places and is unsuitable for very low-slung vehicles. Parking fees have been included in the entry fee to limit use of cash and interaction as you arrive. There will be a one way system in and out of the field. No arrivals after 12.00 and no departures before 12.15.
