This years the race is going ahead in a revised format in line with Scottish Gov and Scottish Athletics guidance.

Runners will be set-off in waves , with a gap between each wave.

It is expected that each wave will have max 50 runners - in line with Level 2 guidance

The race organiser may need to implement additional restrictions on race day - given that the Covid situation and government guidance can change.

Start and finish is  2km from Balerno village ... allow an extra 20 mins if running from Balerno

You can cycle or catch the bus to Balerno, if driving by car, you must  park in the village. There are several car parks in the village.

Sadly no social gathering / soup / beer in the pub this year for prize giving , that will need to wait another year!

  • Pre-enter via Si Entries
  • This year the race is the East District Hill running champs with medals / awards for category prize winners provided by Scottish Athletics
  • As the race is likely to be over-subscribed - those runners who are eligible to run in the East District championships will be given priority. You must be a current member of Scottish athletics to be eligible to win a category winner medal
  • The race is fast running on tracks and footpaths, with two climbs up the Kips.
  • The race route is not marked - please study map in advance. Carry map and compass, and full body-cover.
  • All runners must be self-sufficient and be able to look after themselves in all conditions

Chip timing for first time at Red Moss this year , as we needed to automate timing now the race is run in multiple  Waves. Please bring along a watch , and time your own race as well - in case we need to iron out any anomalies in race results  after the race
