Format and Route

Starting from Askham, LM40 will take in the summits of Loadpot, High Street, Helvellyn  and Place Fell, giving a figure eight route with Patterdale in the centre.  Intermediate checkpoints at Angle Tarn and Grisedale Tarn. CPs staffed by the excellent NAV4 mountain team.

The route is a stunning mix of lakeland ridge lines, good runnable trails and some stiff climbs and descents.

Start
One minute interval starts from 6-7am, so give or take 60 people. Yep, couples / bubble buddies can start together; just enter as solo individuals.
Ascent? Plenty; but generally runnable trails, little bits of bog, muchly mountain madness.  Fun? - Yes - Types Two, One and possibly Three as well.

Too Much...
And, if you haven't got the umph for 40 miles, either now or on the day, then short route yourself at Patterdale and 'enjoy' Place Fell even more than you would before, and finish with '26.2'+ in your legs, heart and soul.

No formal cut-offs but we would hope you to have finished by 'last orders' aka 'dusk' as I need my beauty sleep.

Food and Drink
Drop bags snacks will be taken to Patterdale for you, which you'll visit twice.
Plenty of drinkable fell streams

The legendary NAV4 catering will replenish you afterwards, with limited edition multi-functional eco souvenir, unlimited NAV4 TLC banter and beers.

Free Car parking on site, mainly hard standing.
Campervans welcome - £10 per van per night - bookable when you enter.

Askham
Askham Community Centre is a great venue being on the edge of the National Park, with a range of local accommodation options, and good rail connections via Penrith.
