The South Pennine 24 is hosted by the South Pennine Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA).
The 24 mile route, with 3900ft of ascent, is a fantastic foray into the Dark Peak and the South Pennine Moors. A variety of terrain will be encountered from wild moorland to well graded footpaths and bridleways. Hopefully you will enjoy the stunning views the area has to offer.
The event is open to all walkers and runners who are competent and suitably equipped at taking part in long distance events during the Winter months. A route description & walked gpx file of the event route will be emailed to entrants from 07 February.
The event headquarters and start will be Dovestone Sailing Club, Greenfield (via Bank Lane ,off A635 Holmfirth Road) with adjoining Pay & Display parking (currently £4.00): please car share if possible.
**AMENDED** No Mass Start . Registration from 0730 until 0830 . Register then set off straight away . Slower walkers earliest , quicker walkers / joggers from 0800 and fell runners closest to 0830 . All to finish by 1730 .
The event will be fully supported with drinks / pastries from 0715 , food and drink at four checkpoints with soup at the finish , subject to any Covid restrictions . An e-certificate will be emailed to all finishers on request .
The entry fee is £12 LDWA members and £20 non members .
