15/20 Mile: £25 (£27 unaffiliated) |
Roly's Run is held in the Meon Valley, Hampshire, in memory of a lost friend and ultra-runner Rich (aka Roly) (run4rich.co.uk).
Race HQ: Swanmore Village Hall, New Road, Swanmore, Hampshire, SO32 2PF.
Race distance 15/20/40 mile options, 40 mile participants starting at 8:00 am, the 15/20 mile participants will be notified nearer to the day of a starting time slot between 8:00 and 10:00 to aid social distancing measures.
Walkers are welcome in the 15/20 mile events. On the day you are free to swap between the 15/20 mile options. We don't recommend missing out on Winchester hill though, nice views!
Course Description:
All 3 courses will follow a clockwise loop starting at Swanmore taking in Beacon Hill / Exton / Meonstoke. 20/40 mile runners will continue on the South Downs Way on a cheeky climb to Winchester Hill. Ordinarily the 40 mile route would take the South Downs Way to QE Country Park, but this year we have needed to change to a 2x20 mile route format to help manage the current circumstances and additional COVID management measures.
From Meonstoke, all participants will head back on the old railway line to Swanmore via Droxford. The finish will be back at the village hall where a hot drink and food will await you!
A fine challenge for ultra 'noobs' and veterans alike!
There will be fully stocked checkpoints throughout.
The course is ~80% trail, has some amount of climbing and can be tricky underfoot in places, particularly in wet weather or after persistent rain (e.g. loose stones, tree roots, slippery descents on chalky paths).
Courses will be marked with arrows/tape/flour as needed and an up-to-date .gpx file of the courses will be available prior to the event.
Run will be held under UKA rules. Unfortunately, no dogs may join competitors on the route. Runners must be over 18 years of age to run the 20 mile event and over 20 years of age to run the 40 mile event.
