Sadly no Festive forest Challenge this festive season due to the constraint placed upon us by Forestry England. However, we are planning on bring a Festive edition of the popular Bury to Clare Challenge

A linear 18 mile run or walk, in support of St Nicholas Hospice Care from Bury St Edmunds to Clare, with £5 from every entry going to them. A route over the gently undulating countryside of West Suffolk.

To ensure the event is Covid-9 safe we will have a rolling start. Small groups (no more than 6 persons) to be set off at 5 minute intervals between 6:45am and 11:00am.

The route will be marked. The challenge is to complete the challenge within 8 hrs. Everyone to be finished by 3:00pm

All finishers will receive a bespoke medal to mark their achievement. The medal is based on artwork titled night and day by Surinder Wardboys which is displayed in the hospice chapel.

The route will be waymarked.

Start: Nowton Park Bury Road, Nowton, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP29 5BD.

Finish: Clare Castle Country Park, Suffolk CO10 8NW

Time:  We will have a rolling start. Small groups (no more than 6 persons) to be set off at 5 minute intervals between 6:45am and 11:00am. It will be up to entrants to make the decision regarding their start time, but please bear in mind that you must be finished at 3:00pm.

The race will be held under UK Athletics rules (permit applied for)

Please note this is a linear event and due to Covid 19 there is no transport available and it will be up to you to arrange transport back to your car.

Checkpoints with refreshments at 7 miles and 12 miles approximately.

Individuals are encouraged to raise further sponsorship for St Nicholas Hospice Care, please contact us for sponsor forms.

St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity supporting people and families in West Suffolk and Thetford who are living with a life-shortening illness.

All of their services are provided completely free of charge so you taking part in this challenge ensures that they can continue to provide vital care to people in your local area.
