Covid19 - Special Considerations and Rules for this event 7th August 2021

THE 2021 FINISH LOCATION OF THE WALK HAS BEEN MOVED TO REAR OF THE BULL PUB IN STREATLEY--- SEE ITEM C BELOW.

The event will follow the COVID19 social distancing and hygiene guidelines and necessary operational changes to allow the event to happen are as follows,

A, Your tracking tag will be issued at the start. Please don’t lose it, and securely fix it to your rucksack or clothing before you start the walk with a length of string (which you must bring from home) so that it can easily be scanned at check points.

B, At checkpoints limited food will be available and issued to you by the marshal. Water/squash will be issued by the marshal in disposable cups. Water bottles cannot be filled. Use the water from the disposable cups to top up your water bottle if necessary. Make sure you fill your water bottles at home and bring them to the start. The Avebury hall will not be available for filling water bottles. Walkers may have the option of buying a bacon butty at a van just past checkpoint 2. We are not arranging this but have been told the van will be there for some time. At the Bull pub, tea, coffee, and beer may be available to buy depending on your finish time.

C, The “finish” this year be at the rear of the Bull Public House in Streatley (NOT the Youth Hosteland NOT Goring Village Hall). We will erect a gazebo in the corner of the small car park at the rear of the pub. NOTE>>> This car park is property of the Bull who have kindly let us erect one gazebo. IT IS NOT TO BE USED FOR WALKERS PARKING. USE THE GORING car parks as shown on the attached map.  Or on our website at  About The Ridgeway40 Walk also has a map of the car parks in Goring/Streatley plus lots more useful information. Map new finish https://www.sientries.co.uk/emails/images/22960/R40W_2021_FINISH_2.jpg

D, All walkers must finish at the Bull pub before 10.30pm.

E, NOTE>>> We will not be providing transport for retirees at check points onward to the finish. Entrants should make their own arrangements for this situation using friends or family or taxi. This is a 40 mile walk in limited time and requires prior training and good health. We advise that you download the App - what3words. If your family also use this app they will be able to navigate directly to your exact position.

F, If you have decided not to take part please advise us as soon as possible on ridgewaywalk@hotmail.co.uk Thank you.
