Manx Telecom is proud to be supporting the Parish Walk – the Isle of Man’s greatest individual fundraising sporting event. The 24-hour, 85-mile walk covers 17 parish churches around the Island, giving you the chance to really test yourself and raise money for your favourite cause.
The Manx Telecom Parish Walk is as challenging as The Three Peaks event, with most entrants finishing after 19 or 32 miles. But perhaps you’re determined to go further. In 2011 a record 1,753 people signed up for the walk. With your help, we’d like to do even better this year. So if you’re up to the challenge or just for the fun of it,
The 85 mile Manx Telecom Parish Walk is organised by Manx Harriers and in 2012 it will be the 51st event since it was revived in 1960. You can decide during the walk whether you want to go the full distance (subject to time limits) or retire at one of the 17 Parish Churches around the course where your time will be recorded.
Your arrival times at each church will be published at parishwalk.com and sent by SMS, by Manx Telecom Timing, to two mobile phones which you may wish to register. Provided you have registered an email and mobile phone number in your personal details the organisers will also send pre-race information and training tips directly to you by email and SMS.
You can also compete as part of a team of four. Teams must have four members with a MAXIMUM OF TWO previous finishers of the full 85 mile course per Team unless you are entering the Manx Telecom Corporate Challenge where only one previous full distance finisher is permitted per team. Teams entering the corporate challenge will be automatically entered in the overall team category.
