Being based on the edge of the Lake District National Park it would be daft of us not to put on trail running weekends for people to share the sense of freedom that running on trails can provide. You don’t have to run far to feel the trails are yours alone and this is why we love getting out with friends (new and old!) in the outdoors and believe that it should always be fun and inclusive. A massive part of what we do is trying to make sure everyone’s supported, but in particular the person at the back of the pack! Our runs are gentle, moving at your pace, stopping often to take in the views, take a few snaps and to re-group.

Our accommodation for this weekend is at the Brathay Trust. The impressive Brathay Hall is set in 360 acres of mature woodland and rolling pasture, at the head of Windermere. Visitors to the stunning estate will experience the wonderful views that have inspired artists and poets alike for centuries. Wordsworth, Coleridge and Constable have all been notable visitors to the Hall and its impressive gardens. Brathay is located just a 15 minute walk from Ambleside, with its great selection of shops, restaurants and traditional pubs.

Your weekend will consist of - arriving Friday evening at Oxenholme train station between 4:30pm and 6:00pm and we'll transport you to Ambleside. If you want to make your own way, we'll meet you at the Brathay Trust at around 7:00pm.  We'll have a buffet dinner at 7:00pm while we do introductions, and explain in more detail the timetable for the weekend.  We have a variety of accommodation options including single, double or twin.

On Saturday morning we'll have a hot and cold breakfast buffet available from 8:30 until 9:30am followed by around an hour of Pilates. We'll then have a route & safety briefing before setting off on our run!  Our Saturday route will take us through delightfully mixed terrain which will include lakeside paths, open hillside and typical South Lakeland woodland. You will cover just less than 20km, but will have plenty of time to stop and admire the surroundings, find out about the local area and take some stunning photographs. Our focus is on social runs with plenty of stops, including to have a packed lunch.  After the run we'll have afternoon tea (a hot drink and cake/scone) or you can have a couple of hours Stand Up Paddle Boarding with our friends at LakeSUP (additional cost of £35 per person, pre-booking essential as it won't be on offer on the weekend). After afternoon tea, you have the option of an hour of Pilates. Then in late afternoon and early evening you can have a walk around Brathay’s grounds, or a paddle/dip in the lake. We've also got the optional extra available of Ayurvedic neck and shoulder massage from Calm and Control Pilates.

We'll have a two course dinner around 7:30pm and you can adjourn to the bar for a drink, watch inspirational films about running and hear from our celebrity attendee (to be confirmed).

On Sunday morning it'll be similar to Saturday - breakfast, pilates, run. We'll take in some more iconic views to ensure you see the best that the Lake District has to offer, as within a few miles of our accommodation are some truly mind-blowing views. We'll offer shorter runs on Sunday (10k or 14k), with the option to extend if our legs are feeling springy!  Again, we'll have a packed lunch mid-way and return for some post-run Pilates and afternoon tea before we aim to finish and be ready to depart at 3pm.

Our ultimate aim over the weekend, is to have social runs where we all enjoy each other's company and take in the amazing environment of the UNESCO World Heritage Site that is the English Lake District. This may mean, that if you're a faster runner, you're waiting a bit for others to catch up - but this will offer plenty of opportunity to take some awe inspiring pics (weather permitting!). All of our runs will have 2 Run Leaders on, to ensure that we're kept together, and everyone is supported.
