The Dorset Doddle consists simply of the coastal path from Weymouth to Swanage. Anyone expecting a gentle stroll along the cliffs will be in for a shock, but the route has stunning views and is a true classic. The distance is about 32 miles, passing over some of the most beautiful coastal scenery in England, but including some tough climbs on the way. The time limit is 12 hours. We lay on coaches from Swanage to Weymouth on the morning of the event.

The event starts from the Jubilee Clock on Weymouth Esplanade (GR SY681795). Registration opens at 8 am, and you can start when you are ready between 8.30 am and 9 am. The coaches from Swanage to Weymouth leave from the football ground car park at the top of De Moulham Road off Bonfields Avenue (GR SZ029799). Last coach leaves Swanage at 07.45 (sharp). To get to the car park you go North out of the town centre along the beach. Bear left away from the beach up Ulwell Road. Take the second left in 200m on Seaward Road, and right into the car park. The finish will be at the All Saints Church Hall (GR SZ030801), about 200m North of the coach departure point at the junction of Ulwell Road and Redcliffe Road.

The map covering the entire route is OL15, but this is not compulsory as it is almost impossible to get seriously lost. All checkpoints will offer drinks, and some will offer light snacks, but you should carry your own food. A meal will be provided at the finish.

We accept runners.

The minimum age for entrants is 16. Entrants below 18 must obtain parent’s consent and other conditions may apply. Please email the organisers for more information.

The route description will be available to download from the Dorset LDWA website two weeks before the event.
