Entries for the 2019 Grasmere Gallop are now OPEN, giving you the chance to sign up to a 5.7k, 10k or 17k trail run or 10k Nordic walk set in the spectacular surroundings of Grasmere and Rydal Water in the Lake District. Grasmere Gallop will take place on Saturday 1st June 2019, but things will be a little different next year… here’s how;

The National Trust took on the Grasmere Gallop in 2011 when the event then had 200 participants. In the years since it has grown to over 800 participants a year, something that we, the NT, are incredibly pleased about. However, this has meant that it has outgrown our capacity. Next year, we’ll be taking a step back from the Gallop to focus on our core conservation activities and – while we’ll still be involved – it will be placed in the capable hands of local events company, Pure Outdoors Events. Please use the contact details for Pure Outdoors Events on the website to get in touch if you have any enquiries or questions about the event. The route will continue to take in stunning scenery around Grasmere and Rydal Water and you’ll still be able to run for the red squirrels of Grasmere and support our red squirrel conservation work. We want to thank you for all your support over the past years.

The National Trust team.

Introducing Pure Outdoors Events;

We are a small team of trail runners, based in the north Lakes, who organise a number of trail running and adventure events in Cumbria and the Midlands. With events ranging from a 5 mile night run, trail 10k, adventure mud runs up to ultra distance events of 30, 44 and 73 miles, we organise friendly yet challenging events and hopefully have something for runners of all abilities. We're very excited to be working with the National Trust to continue the Grasmere Gallop; running for the past 33 years, the Gallop is a piece of the Lakes' running history. The event will continue to support the NT and the conservation work for the Grasmere red squirrels. The event will remain essentially the same as previous years but with a few small changes to allow it to grow and continue for many more years. We hope you'll join us in 2019...
